Re: Luke Pearse...

Thought he done well, as I said on another thread should have yellowed Kirchner rather than Ruddock, but other than that was pleased with his performance. Yes he did miss a good bit of off the ball stuff but most do, Nigel Owens doesn't penalise half the stuff he could.

Re: Next Ulster Coach

Would have wanted a New Zealander I've never heard of, but look how that worked out! But seriously would probably still want to go for a \new Zealanders, 2nd choice a South African.

Re: Ulster vs Leinster Live....

Gusher was in his element Proud of the boys Was a red card unfortunately SUFTUM Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk Agree it was a red, disagree he drove him into the ground though, he lost control of him and fell forward. Thought Ward was harsh on the ref, think in the main he did ok, I wouldn't ...

Re: 2013/2014 Ulster Academy - performance this season

Prop Kyle McCall[22] - hasnt appeared for 1st team, apparently moving to hooker. Andrew Warwick[23] - made debut for 1st team. Jake Caulfield[21] - left ulster early in the season. Verdict: Warwick is transitioning to 1st team squad, McCall's future is fairly unclear and Caulfield is gone. Hooker J...

Re: Gysbert Johannes Muller, thank you

Just want to echo what's been said, an absolute pleasure to have had Muller at Ulster and has led us from the wilderness to the top table. Had a tear or three in my eyes watching him at the end walking round Ravenhill.

Re: Jackson v. Madigan

A kickoff too short and a couple of missed touches, the one just before half time bugged me because it was so essential not to give points away just before half time. But Paddy overall was light years ahead of Mads.

Re: Ulster vs Leinster

Some things are worth breaking your fast for, a big juicy steak, the right woman, various bits and pieces. Amongst other things worth breaking a fast for is debunking utter bullshite, here's a few things to consider: (I'm not going to state FACT after each point but I guarantee they are truer than ...

Re: A review of Props at Ulster

Thinking back, I seem to remember Paddy Mac being decent in the scrum but also being a liability in the loose. He always either knocked on trying to catch the ball or knocked it on going in to contact. I think the fact he has experience at that level speaks more about our lack of strength in depth ...

Re: FRANCO - Van Der Man!

Think Franco will be fine, I have no doubt with Muller, Pienaar etc. we have enough contacts in South Africa to know what we are getting, I think he could be as good a player as Muller but less of a leader, and on a 2 year contract he will be busting a gut to impress. Given the world cup cycle this ...

Re: Is it time for a real change to the referee system?

In the NFL there have been dubious decisions made based on instant replay, and they are talking about moving all play reviews to a 'command centre'. I don't know, I think refs definitely need to be full time, I think they need to meet very regularly to discuss decisions that there can be more consis...

Re: Positives and Negatives: Ulster v Glasgow

Sorry but that's rubbish. Glasgow have been one of the best sides in the league for a few seasons. Leinster were very lucky to beat them at home in the league SF last season. Townsend has made them the best defensive team by far and they have now got a real cutting edge. They will trouble any team....

Re: Positives and Negatives: Ulster v Glasgow

Think we got outcoached, plain and simple. Something like the quick 22 their number 8 took, it is the type of thing they do and we should have been prepared for it. Quite a few subtle things Glasgow do that we had no answer to. Yellow, TMO and injuries all harsh but Gregor has an average team talent...

Re: The Incident

Meanwhile, retired international referee Jonathan Kaplan has criticised Jerome Garces' match-turning decision to send off Jared Payne in the fifth minute of Ulster's defeat to Saracens on Saturday. The full-back – who will be anxiously awaiting news of the repercussions of the French official's dec...

Re: The Incident

I actually agree with Rum and think what Payne did doesn't constitute a tackle and hence it shouldn't have been a red. Say for instance Goode jumped for the ball jumping into Payne's running line but completely missed it, the ball was landing behind him, and Payne was heading straight for where the ...
