Re: Jocky Wilson...what an athlete.

Nobody like him. Sadly missed. Some belters here: 'When Lowe gets back to Clay Cross there'll be a reception like Ayatollah Khomeini had hit town' 'Jocky Wilson, all the psychology of a claymore. As Freud said to Jung in Vienna, you can psych up too much for a darts match. 'Cliff Lazarenko's idea of...

The original version with Cox was called "Manhunter". Hopkins played Lecter in the inferior remake.

Going to be that person and say, no it's not.
+1 :salut:
Unless of course you're using the Beeb's abbreviation for "Team GB & NI".

I see that the Irish ladies are intending to participate in the qualifying process for Rio 2016.

Re: Digital camera repairs?

I had a wee 10MP Fuji with me at the HC final. I sat on the bloody thing outside the Slug'n'Lettuce and smashed it. It cost me about £70 new a few years ago.

Bought the 14MP model on eBAY for £35 + £3.50 p&p (brand new in box).

It's a disposible society alright.

Re: Rugby 7's in Rio 2016

Norn Iron actually have more 2012 Olympians in Team Ireland (13) than in Team GB (7). 2 silver and 3 bronze medallists so far is a pretty good return and the 2 boxers have the power to add of course, and we've got a semi-finalist in the men's hockey.. Could have had a gold as well if Wendy Houvenhag...

Re: OK, another silly season film thread...

Silence of the Lambs. Hammier than a roast gammon. Cox was a much better than Lecter. Jodie Foster was also cack. Hallelujah. A film I've started watching probably four or five times, and never actually finished. Anyone see The Men Who Stare at Goats? never did a vaguely amusing sounding title ever...

Re: Rugby 7's in Rio 2016

http://www.uafc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14899 The consensus is that it's probably a non-starter for Irish players. However the IRB will be very keen for all senior test teams to participate so who knows? After London 2012, I'd say most players would give their eye teeth to compete in the Olym...

Re: OK, another silly season film thread...

Yeah. The Police Captain is inariably a fat black guy.

I hate the ubiquitous tagged on "romantic sub-plot" in 99% of movies.

Most Hollywood fillums are pure keek tbh.

The official who disqualified Vic Pendleton needs a good kicking......... So what should happen to the officials who disqualified the badminton players, who as far as i know broke no rules? Beside the fact that I was joking, as most others realised. The badminton players brought their sport and the...

The IOC control all the coverage including onscreen stats. The Beeb just supply the commentary.

Re: Silly Season - your ACTUAL 5 favourite films (or whateve

Do porn films count? I have probably watched more of them than anything. Have you watched any of them for more than 10 minutes though? The oul porno fillum industry is somehat dead now thanks to th'internet. In the 70s and 80s some of the proper ones even had a loose plot. Now the enthusiastic amat...

Re: Big Merv's furrin fillum thread :)

Pretty well everything by Almodóvar is very watchable but some favourite foreign films are the coming-of-age Mexican film Y Tu Mamá También and another Mexican film Amores Perros which is 3 different stories all connecting with each other. Couple of excellent ones there. Goodbye Lenin is a very goo...

Re: Big Merv's furrin fillum thread :)

Thankyou DL.

What Have I Done to Deserve This? ( ¿Qué he hecho yo para merecer esto?) is my favourite Almodóvar flick - a kitchen sink surreal comedy set in post Franco Spain. Low on budget - big on laffs. As good or better than his more celebrated later efforts imo.

Re: Silly Season - your ACTUAL 5 favourite films (or whateve

Blazing Saddles
The Life of Brian
The Shining
Pulp Fiction
The Producers

I'm also partial to european fillums - Almodóvar for example but that probably merits another thread.
