Re: Squad for next year
I would think that a few of the academy would also be close and have game time during the season because if one looks at the players identified as wingers 3 seems very short of requirement considering both Trimble and Danielli could be NZ bound thus players like Gaston and Cochrane could be called u...

Re: John Hayes to retire after the World Cup?
those who know me would not say I was one eyed but there are a few hereabouts can't see beyond ulster and their own favorite players and God help you if you expose the warts . Problem is that while Hayes had a decent final in the Ml he has not been a starter in every game ( even when fit) and there ...

John Hayes to retire after the World Cup?
Took an aethereal trip to Munsterfans ( Cyclops Paradise) where there is much weeping because it is reported that Hayes contract has not been extended beyond the World Cup . Given Hickeys less than 100% performance at the last World Cup after he announced his retirement do You consider that Hayes sh...

Official poaching policyis only operated by the IRFU?
What about the English squad? Its nearly like looking at MU or any other Preniership football team --find the wally time.

Re: Payne & Afoa - on Super 15 now!!
I always believed the "crouch touch pause engage" was to take the "hit " out of scrumaging a far better sequence would be " crouch touch engage -- put the ball in ---push" any push before the insertion of the ball penalised by a free kick with no option for a second scr...

Re: What's a contract worth these days?
When you have a bunch of poeple in close contact for periods of time clashes of personality occur if the clash is extreme maybe it is better for all that a contract is broken, quitely .its hard enough to love some some of time impossible to love everyone all of the time.

Re: Training squad
Neil F I can't really say that I have noticed catastrophic loses of form as such . Fitzgerald has always had the potential for "head farting" Earls has always suffered from tunnel vision. Kearney had a great Lions tour but the conditions in SA where the ball stays in the air longer make a ...

Re: Payne & Afoa - on Super 15 now!!
The major offence in a scrum is boreing .That is when a prop ceases to push in a straight line parallel to the touch line. It is frequently assisted by the hooker pushing in the same direction with the other prop pushing in on the opposite side on the hooker and both props pushing up at the same tim...

Re: Training squad
Neil as stated previously Ireland have for a long time had a very settled mid field but injury prone wings or wings who have both strenghts and weaknesses which are known and thus played to by the opposition and when Trimble Earls or Fitzgerald have suffered exposure of their weakness they get dropp...

Me I eat fairly often in the STAR off Ann Street mostly steaks only had about two that didn;t come up to standard in about the last 6 years The house "red" costs about £7-8 which in this day and age is cheap. look up their web page good value in book . Though the decor could be better whic...

Re: If you were coach for a day...
Why show key moments . Show them how scoring opportunties are lost-- show them how possession is lost. Get the backs to practice running straight lines instead of diagonally across the pitch very few backs can actually run round their opposite number or the player marking him unless he is a front ro...

Re: Training squad
Most backs coming into a squad for the first time play wing because being backs they usually have sufficent pace to play on the wing but frequently lack the physical maturity to play midfield were they would be targeted by the opposition. Trimble was the exception to this rule because he did have th...

Re: Training squad
Shan Fitz is a player who has won not because he is Fitz but because he has been a member of a good team and those wins had as much to do or more with the other 14 players as Fitz. He is a genius who suffers from Head Farts always has done that higher price for those moments madness has not been pai...

Re: Training squad
Having watched Fitz at centre I'm not as convinced of his defensive qualtities as some .He benefits defensively from playing with the D'Arcy/BoD combination inside him both at League and International level . leinster have play a drift defence for years and provided the backrow follow across behind ...
