Afoa's squad status

there's a competition on the Ulster website which got me thinking...is Afoa actually an Ulster player yet? Everything I've read says he's coming post RWC, but he's on the squad list (without a picture) for us. Is he simply clubless whilst with the All Blacks?

Re: ItV coverage

Vickery was on TalkSport's rugby round up on Sunday night and I groaned when he was announced. The labour undertaken in getting the simplest sentence out seemed unbearable, I can't believe his name / status trumps his commentating and chat ability.

Re: Lawes Cited

highly reckless indeed, he's one of those players that consistently and needlessly goes a yard past the acceptable. it's a shame they can''t / won't take the two actions as evidence in the one case and give him something hefty. in comparison to something like the Tuilgai punches, I think Lawes is fr...

Re: Which Smartphone

picked up a Blackberry Curve recently - very affordable, good range of apps and handy for browsing etc. some great deals about too. really happy with it so far, just want to make sure I get the most out of it. some websites are starting to use things like tapatalk specifically for users browsing on ...

having been at the game last week and dependent on the Beeb this it sounds as though we're just about getting what we deserve. if one of the bonus points had been taken from either game I'd imagine the place would be a fair bit happier.

Re: Ireland v USA - 7am - Sunday 11th September 2011

the lack of a european / world class 7 and 12 will be one of many things that murders us in this tournament. pretty disappointing but it seemed like the wise thing to do was play ugly, keep the ball close and keep driving; the US were enjoying the big hits and our handling wasn't good enough to run ...

Re: ItV coverage

Vickery was a new low in sports tv commentary, even worse than the kid's presenter C4 fired on the athletics recently. Craig Doyle is the most banal presenter I've seen in some time, and there's consistently no tactical or game analysis worth speaking of. currently have the Wales - South Africa game...

Re: Positives & Negatives: Ulster V Glasgee

only getting round to it now but I thought that was a sound performance against a fairly determined opponent. for a long time Glasgow were keeping within a score and holding on in the game for dear life, but Ulster were professional. if you'd asked me beforehand if I'd take that result I'd have bit ...

Re: Will the Westies Overtake us?

Connacht's development was in part surely due to necessity though? With a fair disastrous couple of years (in sport and finance) behind them, and the number of young Irish leaving the West, a rapid policy of redevelopment was needed. it's easy to give off about Ulster but at the moment we're in a po...

smashing team with a few great options from the bench. I'd be happy with that to start against Glasgow too, Friday's performance depending. hopefully Porter and Nelson both get a 2nd half, Marshall is there to be challenged.

Re: Ulster during the RWC..

I'm dying for Friday to roll around, can't wait for the nights at Ravenhill to return. The squad is there for better or worse, I just want to see them playing together now. As you've said we could be in a handy position post WC. really hope some the young lads come through again, exciting times ahead!

Re: RWC Squad: Who will be named?

muted applause here, I think that by and large the squad under Kidney picks itself. Horan should have travelled, Buckley is a trundler and shouldn't be anywhere near the plane. i feel for TOL as he's a player I like, but his omission is correct. I don't think Fitzgerald is good enough for the later ...

Re: Expectations 2011 / 2012

i don't quite see the quality in Cave that others do at present, though I'll definitely be paying him more attention. He had one outstanding game toward the end of last season, i'd need to check the ticket stubs to remind myself which one it was. possibly the best tap tackle i've ever seen. PW...rig...
