Re: New Performance Director - a bloke we all know
Certainly from a box ticking pt of view he hits the majority: Prov and int player of high quality DOR in Ireland and England Involvement in recruitment/contracts….legal professional Experience in another sport (ECB cricket), and legal practice. I think DH would be ruthless enough to rock the boat, b...

He’s currently on a 1yr deal, finishing end of this season. You’d imagine his agent will be busy come new yr. I assume there's absolutely no chance of... Could you imagine the reception at Ravenhill…I think it’d roar the place down. The IRFU won’t sanction it….rugby wise no need, with the number of...

Re: Dan’s Not the Man.
If UR fails to sort this scrum issue, they’ll lose a damn sight more games than that. Barclay had UR finishing 6/8 in URC….that could be generous. Inconsistent, a soft underbelly, with a habit of folding….was what he politely said reading between the lines. A real issue is that they are gonna need M...

Re: Injury Update
I thought when Lowry was on the wing he was quite effective and an interesting prospect going forward, and could really suit him. Low centre of gravity, fast feet, decent burst of pace over a short distance, and reasonable hands for a wide man, and ok kicking game. I have reservations re his hands/k...

Re: Dan Soper
On the basis of the number of handling errors this season I really wouldn’t be letting the skills coach newby off Scot free either. There is an issue: Bell and DMcF are contracted til Summer ‘25. Unsure re soper, grant, newby. With the financial state of the game I can’t see contract buy outs, or gu...

Re: Bath v Ulster
AOC is a far better mauler and tight technician than treadwell. We will need plenty of dirty work v Bath. I’d back AOC than KT….who’s gone missing in action more times than Chuck Norris!!! AOC is too small we all know that, the guy has more dog than Treadwell. Cooney over Doak every day of the week,...

Re: Bath v Ulster
Personally think it’s a worry re TS and TOT come scrum time, herring and MM can’t be good to start. Think we could potentially give bath clear entries into the game through scrums, and the game killed before we use the bench.

Re: Bath v Ulster
No HS?….unless injured, dire selection. HS is exactly the type of abrasive forward who we should be picking, should be on the bench. The guy is for me the most abrasive of the pups. I’ve not seen him have a shocker or go missing in games, really bad call. I’d defo have him for Backrow cover as bath ...

Re: URC: Ulster Rugby v Edinburgh Rugby Sat 2nd Dec 17:15
Injuries have provided pup time, and some Rays of sunshine ahead with UR home grown forward prospect’s BUT it feels mostly out of necessity rather than design. So far, we’ve either been caught out at scrums, breakdown, or both in matches. MM and herring need to come in to shore up the front row for ...

Re: Best Starting XV 2023/24
Moore at 15 for me. Lowry for a former 10 really doesn’t strike me as a playmaker at 15, especially with all the additional time you have at 15. He’s a quality breaker/half break, but his passing I think is pretty poor, and almost an after thought to a support player. Moore is a gifted footballer. ...

Re: Glasgow v Ulster
***to add: The league pts/league position is pretty decent considering injuries, poor set piece (partially responsible for ineffectiveness in attack - platform). Let’s be honest we could finish 1st, would anyone be confident of a home knockout win? I’d take where we are, with the bonuses of seeing t...

Re: Glasgow v Ulster
Some thoughts: Glasgow fielded a relatively experienced international front row, and potentially their best international backrow. EOS struggled at scrum time. Stewart is excellent, however I’m sure his scrum development is something being worked on, and being sandwiched between 2 good scrummaging p...
