Re: James McKinney..........the Return?
McKinney, of what I remember from watching him, seemed to be more of a game managing ROG type of 10 rather than Jackson being the more rounded player in regards attacking play etc. It'll be 2 good 10's going at it for starting position with us and it's nice that they have a slightly contrasting sty...

Re: Ulster v Treviso Live Updates
Good post bazzaj
The number of players Ulster have had to use this year has meant a stutter in their campaign but the up side is that there is far more depth and when the injured players return (as they will) the match day squad will be seriously strong.

Re: Glasgae Wooriers v Ulster-lite live match updates
Every team has injuries, but the reality is that we have an injury list of epic proportions at the minute that very few squads could cope with. For example, we really had no-one to come on in the front row because of Paddy Mac and Macklin's injuries. All this at a time when more and more of our pla...

Re: Ulster v Ospreys - Positives and Negatives
Can't believe the utter nonsense spouted about Afoa. Mrs A has been here with him every step of the way, but just found the homesickness too much in the end. I'm sure she had every intention to stay and has tried to make as good a life here as she could but with two children under five already it's ...

Re: Tom Court
Court gave Kidney something to think about on Friday. Even while Bent was er... being bent, he did far more to disrupt Doran Jones than Kilcoyne did. If the LH can pressurize his side it does help to negate what's happening on the other side of the scrum. Couldn't believe Lenihan suggesting he be th...

Re: 9/10 and World Dominance.
Looking at some of the HEC winning 10s, would anyone say Alex King or Austin Healy were outstanding outhalves?
It is complete nonsense that Ulster can't win with Jackson at 10.

Re: 9/10 and World Dominance.
Before the season started outhalf was the only position that Ulster were obviously weak. Putting all the eggs in the tyro Paddy Jackson basket was unfair on him and a major risk and so it has occasionally proved. Letting the promising McKinney leave and signing the consistently mediocre O'Connor was...

Re: Why are there so many penalty trys -- based on 5 metre s
There is a problem with the scrum wherever it is on the pitch, and the biggest problem is the "hit". It should be removed and the packs engage as they used to and only push when the ball is put in. In order to make this a fair contest the somewhat radical but easiest solution is to get the...

Re: Positives and Negatives, Munster v Ulster
Some harsh criticism of beagle on the thread. He had a mare, fair enough, but I think some of the posts are ignoring the huge contribution he's made to a successful first half of the season. Give the wee man a break. Some people seem to be writing him off after one poor performance. I don't think M...

Re: Positives and Negatives, Munster v Ulster
You guys must like ruck inspectors, because that's all McCombe/McComish are any time we have to rely lose the breakdown and struggle in the mauls. Our pack were torn to shreds for 55mins, once Munster noticed this around 30mins they hammered us until ROG came on. The only thing that went well up fr...

Re: Positives and Negatives, Munster v Ulster
Then you'll be disappointed to discover that Anscombe holds McComish in high regard. McComish is a guy who plays across the backrow and would start every week for most AP teams, it's easy to see why Anscombe rates him. Not sure who McCombe is but Neil McComb has been consistently good this season. ...

Re: Ulster v Scarlets
Henderson is the best 6 Ulster have in the absence of Ferris, and it's where he caught the attention of the Test selectors and where he looks most suited. Stevenson needs gametime and McComb had been good so why change the locks?

Re: Positives and Negatives, Munster v Ulster
Herring has been impressive, especially his work in the loose, and like Rory turns over ball. With Muller calling, his throwing is top drawer but he has had his difficulties with inexperienced jumpers. Niall needs more Rabo games before he usurps Herring, but he should be getting that time rather th...

Re: Positives and Negatives, Munster v Ulster
Plus
+ at 24 3 it could have got messy. Ulster did well to stop the TBP.
+ Luke Marshall great game
+ No injuries and Macklin, D'Arcy, Stevenson all getting match fitness
+ Olding, Annett and Birch good impact
Minus
- NOC yet again shows he's not up to this level
- Black couldn't handle BJ boring in
