Re: Any word on the Academy?

Our scrumhalf resources really aren't good enough. Doak will be coming in possibly the season after next, but it's remarkable that we wouldn't just take a punt on someone. Then with the tightening of belts and Nucifora now needing to approve every academy entrant that might not be possible.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

I'd also say, it's possible given the very small (and lacking in some regards) nature of the academy class, we maybe could see some additions following the development preseason games.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Allison has a fair bit of hype behind him but if you were go by this u20s campaign you'd have strong doubts about him. As compared to McCann who was absolutely flying and looks like he could be involved with the senior team rather soon. To be fair to Allison though, he has missed out the majority of...

Re: Any word on the Academy?

I'd love to be proven wrong but I don't think anyone in years 3 and 4 will make it either due to continuous injuries or not good enough. Would agree, and it's a real shame about Hall as he could really have been something if not for these constant shoulder problems, really hard to see him getting p...

Bushmills is the worst of the big Irish whiskey brands outside of Tullamore Dew.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Turns out it wasn't Allison's knee but rather his head, so yeah he's following return to play protocols now.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Do we have a list of next season's likely Academy? Sexton x2 Rankin Armstrong declined his place. Not sure of anyone else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Reid seems possible. Who's the other Sexton? Tom Stewart do you mean? Other candidates, Oscar Egan, George Saunderson, Matthew Sands, can't r...

Re: Any word on the Academy?

The good news, both Moore and McCann looked great for the u20s in their win over England with 1 and 2 tries respectively. The bad news, Allison picked up a knee injur early in the game, the severity of which is unclear.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

7s only makes possible sense for AIL (or Junior) players who have missed out on the main Academy setup like Baloucoune to show their stuff, it shouldn't be used as an alternative to the standard development pathway.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Sexton playing 7s is an absolute nonsense when it could be in or around our Heineken squad next year and I'm highly suspicious that him playing that sport would be better for his development than regular Pro14 gametime.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Very much looking forward to watching some more of Moore this summer and seeing how he develops. Concussions are really quite worrying that said, along with Curtis'.

That or McPhillips realises he'll never make it at Ulster. IRFU and Nucifora's policies are starting to pay off for us.

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

I really home Agnew can make a big comeback as well, dire season for him. what happened him this year? I was down at Malone a couple of times earlier in the season and he was on the bench.. I don't really know other than I believe a bad enough injury or possibly set of injuries. Form off a cliff th...

Unless that shoulder makes him retire I suspect so. There's a dearth of talent at 7 coming through though McCann has been playing there a good bit for Banbridge.
