Re: In Fairness to McGlock

We would not give up a QF against anyone and you know that. Your scenario has a 5 day turn around not a 4 day one - that is a big help. Also who said wining Dublin was unwinnable - they are your words not mine or McGlocks. Thr hardest Pro12 game of the year but not impossible. What McGlock decided ...

Re: In Fairness to McGlock

Wonder if we were in a Heiny QF away to Leinster on a Sunday and still in contention for the Rabo, whether McGlock would send out the kids against Leinster and save the main team for a game the following Friday in the Rabo.... You know perfectly well what the answer is - not in a million years Why ...

Re: In Fairness to McGlock

McGlock was interviewed on BBC after the game. I'm 99.99% certain he said something along the lines of "well we got the 5 points we were expecting from the 2 fixtures, albeit not as we thought, as we expected to get 1 on Boxing Day and 4 tonight." - this is not a direct quote obviously as ...

Re: Ulster Vs Munster

McGlock's main reason cited for playing a bunch of kids and having more on the bench was the famous 4 day turnaround, yet many of the youngsters, who are not necessarily fully developed yet from a physical perspective and have also just played a game at a higher level than they are used to playing, ...

Re: Leinster v Ravens Positives & Negatives

Ok then Bart would you rather have a slightly rusty Pienaar starting or one that was knackered after a match on Monday night ? All things considered he is the least of our problems at the minute, as for Terblanche I still struggle to see the point at present, his signing was fecked up by an unforse...

Re: Leinster v Ravens Positives & Negatives

Team selection (including bench) seemed to be more of a protest to me at being forced to play 2 games in close succession rather than a calculated decision on what was best for Ulster. When Ulster scored to make it 21-13 early in the 2nd half and were playing with the wind, I wonder if McGlock look...

Re: Leinster v Ravens Positives & Negatives

Marshall mixed some good with bad. As a SH and "senior player" he arguably tried to take too much on at times, but perhaps at least in part understandable given the inexperience outside him. Like Humphreys, he's a player who can function well/very effectively at times when he has some good...

Re: Leinster v Ravens Positives & Negatives

Birch did well, but for those saying he should start the next game or whatever, what exactly did he bring to the party that Falloon doesn't/hasn't? He definitely has potential but still looks lightweight at this stage. If we are going to play an out and out 7 next time around I still think it should...

Re: Leinster v Ravens Positives & Negatives

POSITIVES A lot of young guys got some experience NEGATIVES We got 0 points and our opponents eased to 5 I took nothing else out of the game. Let's not forget that whilst this Leinster team was more experienced than Ulster's, showing their superior depth, this was not their 1st XV either, as they al...

Re: New IRFU Player Contract Policy

Hmm - some good intentions from the IRFU here but a lot of unanswered questions, particularly for me around the specific position bit in areas such as lock and backrow. Some NIQ's are clearly chosen because of their versatility which is important within a squad, but this will no longer be an option ...

Re: Aironi v Ulster Part Deux Team in OP

Leading the group after 4 rounds albeit having played Aironi twice. Now need to beat Tigers at Ravers and deny them a losing BP to eliminate them. Can´t see us scoring 4 tries so let´s get 4 points and deny them one. This is the kind of thing where Ulster have struggled in the past. Would keep us to...

Re: Socrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Sousa Vieira de Oliveira,

Was considered a legend in Brazil which says something about his stature in the game. A bit like our own George, unfortunately the demon drink got the better of him.

Fitting that his club Corinthians won the Brazilian league on the day he died. :salut:

Re: Ulster V Aironi

So can we have 38 players registered at any time for this? If so, I make it 34 in the "squad" and 3 names as injured (which probably means they´ll actually appear on the bench in matchday 22 of course :stir: ). Well if that is the case, who is the one person not in it?? (apart from Ethel.....
