Re: Petries Answering Questions
I actually thought it was very interesting he was even mentioning the playing style and selection of squads, which is as a CEO nothing to do with his role/responsibility. That said, IF he is telling the truth (clearly DMcF has to be onboard with this as head coach), and we start playing our young f...

Re: Ulster vs Stade Toulousain 13/01/24 TNT Sports
Sorry don’t like Dans comments, admittedly only reading, not hearing them. Toulouse are a quality outfit, but so were Toulouse, LAR, R92, Clermont, Montpellier, Leicester, etc etc all sides I’ve seen UR beat in the Euro Cup over the yrs at Ravenhill. Tonight was a poor show, I’ll explain why: Toulou...

Re: Ulster vs Stade Toulousain 13/01/24 TNT Sports
Serious question:
Is there a chance of the pitch being frozen again this weekend? I’ll be mightily cheesed off, as I’m flying back over for the game.
As an aside what have UR got in place to avoid this scenario, now they’ve gone down the plastic pitch route?

Re: Leinster v Ulster Mon Jan 1 5:15pm KO
Re Sheridan…is he still studying at uni in Dublin, maybe exams are coming up which could explain absence. I’m a massive fan of his, he’s abrasive, and I love that, especially when frankly there’s been times players have gone missing against big packs. You want that kind of attitude and player around...

Re: Ulster v Connacht
Re general Poor backline in attack The backline post first phase is static, very flat, and several things are noticeable. Flannery crabs across the pitch pre pass, backline follows at time close to a 45 angle….it’s that bad. Receiving the ball at a standing start, wingers wide static and totally tur...

Re: Ulster v Connacht
A decidedly mediocre performance, and zero surprise. It definitely falls into the category of take the pts/win, and move on. The double miss by Balacoune and Addison for the Connacht try was very poor especially being so close to the touch line. However there were elements i did like: the pop passin...

Nothing will happen til end of season earliest.
I do think Humphries will hold UR to account, but that is 6/18mths away.

Re: New Performance Director - a bloke we all know
Certainly from a box ticking pt of view he hits the majority: Prov and int player of high quality DOR in Ireland and England Involvement in recruitment/contracts….legal professional Experience in another sport (ECB cricket), and legal practice. I think DH would be ruthless enough to rock the boat, b...

Could you imagine the reception at Ravenhill…I think it’d roar the place down. The IRFU won’t sanction it….rugby wise no need, with the number of...

Re: Dan’s Not the Man.
If UR fails to sort this scrum issue, they’ll lose a damn sight more games than that. Barclay had UR finishing 6/8 in URC….that could be generous. Inconsistent, a soft underbelly, with a habit of folding….was what he politely said reading between the lines. A real issue is that they are gonna need M...

Re: Injury Update
I thought when Lowry was on the wing he was quite effective and an interesting prospect going forward, and could really suit him. Low centre of gravity, fast feet, decent burst of pace over a short distance, and reasonable hands for a wide man, and ok kicking game. I have reservations re his hands/k...

Re: Dan Soper
On the basis of the number of handling errors this season I really wouldn’t be letting the skills coach newby off Scot free either. There is an issue: Bell and DMcF are contracted til Summer ‘25. Unsure re soper, grant, newby. With the financial state of the game I can’t see contract buy outs, or gu...
