Re: What the Papers Say 2012-13

Ulster have issues – the suspicion that the tight five could struggle against a really high quality unit and that lack of size and quality in the centre - but their strong start to the season, good half-backs and strength out wide could yet prove enough to get them through. No harm to rte, but this...

Re: Heineken Cup is back - Ulster vs Castres

Btw lets not get ahead of ourselves on the Castres selection - I just had a scan through their forum, and as well as picking up ayeyerma's impressive communications en francais :salut: , I also gathered that the locals didn't seem to view this selection as much out of the ordinary. I was expecting f...

Re: Which end?

I have come to think that the best spot to watch rugby is behind the goals IF you have sufficient elevation ... Only really an option at big stadia mind you.. Mind whats-his-bake used to sit on the roof at the Arms Park with a radio link to the head coach? no, who was that?? :D I don't mind heights...

Re: Heineken Cup is back - Ulster vs Castres

I don't know whether it's good or bad that every single Sky pundit sees us as topping our group. I don't know that I like the favourite tag. That's the next step my friend... having the balls to accept the favourites tag, and then going out and delivering. Munster did it for years, then Leinster, o...

Re: Which end?

yes fair enough if you don't like heights.. In terms of distance from the action, some grounds are better than others, depending on the rake - I was very impressed by the view at Twickenham, and the Millenium as well, you seem to be hanging right over the edge of the pitch

Re: Heineken Cup is back - Ulster vs Castres

beware complacency.. we should certainly be targeting a home 5 pointer, but we shouldn't expect a complete walk in the park.. I know it's early days under Anscombe, and in fairness this selection would have been what 95% of us would have guessed pre-season, taking into account the injuries, but I th...

I suppose it's too much to ask that a team be announced for this match??

Re: Academy 2012/2013

chance would be a fine thing... despite the massive (and top-heavy) management structure in place, nobody seems to have the time to throw an article on the website announcing this year's academy, never mind sticking up biogs and pics.. According to the academy squad page on the website, the m...

Re: Which end?

On the subject of watching from behind the goals, it does give a slightly different perspective (obviously). You can watch defensive and attacking lines that you normally miss - resulting in spending most of the game guldering at the 3/4s. I had the pleasure of watching 3 matches from behind the go...

It took a while for the penny to drop (got easier when I mentally reversed the auto-corrected 'drunk') but nice one

Re: Castres to lose coaches?

Didn't realise it was old news, but it did appear to be a slow news day - the main rugby story today was about a female ref who has taken a match or two in fed 1, and who 'theoretically' could ref a top 14 game.. :)

Castres to lose coaches?

I'm in Paris today and picked up a mention of Castres in l'Equipe - apparently they have called a press conference this afternoon, ostensibly just to talk about the trip to Belfast, but everyone is expecting Labit and his asst to announce that they are leaving the club... Not sure of the context, bu...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

Lets lift the roof tonight- recently, felt we've been a bit " so impress me"- only at the end of the Munster match did we get into our stride and drive the team home. Tonight, its comfort blanket time, and to be honest, I just hope everyone does justice to the occasion, with honour, respe...
