My credo these days is - only good journalist, dead journalist. Strangely enough it is probably true that most of the great journos have snuff it and are now replaced by scandal peddlars and are held in a level of esteem normally reserved for bankers these days.

Re: words fail me
D4, so glad you mentioned Jo Schmo. He is a classic example of the folly of judging someone over a matter of weeks, it is heinously stupid. Would that all who called for his sacking would form an orderly queue for absolution, it would be some queue. For me he is unproven as a head coach over a susta...

Wee Woman, I enjoy a wind up as well as any other immature bloke of indeterminate age however on this occasion I am totally with you, this isn't a disgrace it is outrageous , nay a calumny and the thinking/lack of thinking behind it is very 20th if not 19th century. May your wallyjumblatts soon be s...

Baggy Trousers, Yes. A poor RWC should be grounds for termination of the coach. That's what should have happened in 2007. Professional sport is a results business and qualification for the quarter finals, maybe semi finals, is what I expect the bar to be at. The RWC is the standard measure by which...

Re: words fail me
My point gentlemen is that the timing of the extension is perfectly understandable for the reasons I have already stated at some length. If and when you obtain a copy of the contract that may well be the time to go into the minutiae of clauses, exit strategies etc etc. until then we are simply whist...

OK I don't know one end of a golf bat from the other but I do know that the course on strangford lough is called Mahee Island and welder never tires of pulling all and sundry over the coals for similar lapses in typing/spelling. I have no issues with that comment. Bless you. Perhaps he is simply mi...

Re: What annoys people????
PWR: Your description of Mahee Island as "excellent" does rather take away from your credibility as a golf judge. It scrapes into the acceptable to pleasant category & I say that with no offence to its very welcoming members. WKOTW aka Welder: Clearly that Bag something/ Goonhead chara...

Re: words fail me
The stand-out thing to me is that I cannot see why there is any need to do anything today when his contract does not expire until after the RWC. There is no incentive to perform generated by extending the contract now. Surely you tell the guy "take them to the world cup, do your best with them...

Re: In the Hotseat - Ruan Pienaar from Sydney
Or is he referring to missing this and next SH seasons Can't see that Colin, in theory if he finished up with Ulster in May he could still be a candidate to play some of the SH season. If he was referring to the SH seasons it would be a very convoluted mysterious answer. My hopes still burn brightl...

Re: What annoys people????
duck hooks I can sympathise however at least there is usually some power in a duck hook and the feeling of having whacked the ball. The dramatic slice however is a hugely more mortifying stroke, coming with all the power of a spider's full-on fart. An embarrassment to the player as it will usually ...
