Re: Ulster v Leinster Sat Mar 6th 7:35pm KO

To win this match Ulster will need to keep 15 players on the pitch. Leinster are nearly immune to yellow or red cards as far as IRFU refs are concerned nor do they see holding on after the tackle off side or diving over. My favourite is lazy runners and clearing out well past the ruck. Forgot to ad...

Re: Lions 2021

With Paddy J playing so well for London Irish and with Gatlands similar experience with IRFU in terms of how he was manipulated out the door would it not be ironic if he picked Paddy for the Lions. In reality it probably would not happen as the home unions have inputs into the team selection but I m...

Re: Ulster ‘A’ v Leinster ‘A’ Fri 15th Jan 3pm KO Live on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport NI website

A very watchable match and there was much positive rugby on display from both sides helped by a sympathetic ref who allowed the game to flow. However from an Ulster point of view let’s not get to far ahead of ourselves. While there are players who have broken through to the Ulster team and obviously ...

Re: Leinster v Ulster Fri Jan 8th 7:35pm KO

Watched match last night and had some time for reflection. Thought ref had a good game and while I could gurn about some decisions I am certain Leinster supporters could do the same. TMO was perhaps a bit hard on Ulster but ref produced the balance and more could not be demanded. Marcell was unfortu...

Any citing following the Gloucester game or were the refs decisions correct or are we looked at differently because we are not a Welsh region?

Re: Heineken Round 2 Gloucester Away Sat Dec 19 3:15pm

Ulster were never going to win that game. Ref was a total plunker and that was apparent from the 6 penalties awarded to Gloucester before their second try and first yellow card.O,Connor yellow after he was being strangled was a farce. As for the final two minutes if Ulster had been off the pitch the...

Re: Ulster v Toulouse Friday December 11th 8pm KO

I felt the forward pass by Cooney, criticized by some ,was deliberate to milk the penalty from a French offside at the scrum. Ref ignored it penalised forward pass the rest is history. I think that's why our coach was annoyed and great to see he's got emotion and doesn't like losing.

Re: Cardiff Blues v Ulster Monday 6pm

Good win tonight with a totally different style of play and game plan. Would we have been capable of that last year or the previous two years before that? I don't think so. There are a number of reasons mainly down to Dan and his coaching team, aggressive defence, stubborn with the ball, fight for ev...

Re: 6N 2020

I've read the reports and notice the the Irish independent in its player ratings have two players marked 4 and it was Herring and Stockdale.Surprise surprise. If my memory is correct there was 1 lineout malfunction on Herrings throw while his replacement!!!!!!! And when Ireland want to make ground a...

Re: Ulster v Benetton MoTM

Restart reception, restarts and follow up to clearance kicks remains weak. Young players played well and subs did not weaken the team. Lowry is as brave as they come but he is getting hammered in defence but never shirks a challenge however he will get injured. The most disappointing part of this ev...

Re: Pro 14 Final vs Leinster, Sept 12th.

We have all accepted Leinster are a machine and there is no doubt something odd about their financial structure and the support they get from IRFU for players and support staff which does not translate to Ulster Rugby. I also agree we are not as good as we thought we were but not as bad as some are ...

MC man of the match for me but thought Rea was throwing himself about a bit more and excelled in the lineouts.

Re: Semi Final Edinburgh v Ulster Sat Sep 5 7:35pm

Not unusual for me to have a gurn about referees particularly Irish referees but thought Murphy was good last night, consistent and balanced. If I'm correct the penalty at the finish was the first kick at goal apart from conversions all night, just be a record.
