Re: The run in
With a Welsh side getting the 8th Heineken cup spot no matter where they come, I wonder if Connacht can get past the Sharks to finish in 7th and have all four provinces in the cup. They'd need to beat Edinburgh and Cardiff (can't see then winning away at Glasgow) and hope that Scarlets (h) and Munst...

Have they broken big Stu?
I skimmed a headline that said something like Henshaw took full part in training and will be fine to start v Scotland after McCloskey calf injury....

Re: 6 Nations 2023
That's 'cos with Beirne out he had to start Hendy, so with the quota filled there was no need to start Stu.Dave wrote:McCloskey dropped. No surprise.

For live I use cricfree.tv and delayed rugby24.net is pretty good.
Gave up paying when rugbypass.com lost the rights to many things and premier sports seemed wise to my VPN.

Re: Autumn Internationals 2022
Glad to see Big Stu back after going of last week.
Looks like some good rotation and squad building, with a blend of first team and a fair few of the next tier knocking on the door.
His ball speed was superb (not just the pass but actually getting the ball out of the ruck) one of the main reasons I would always start Cooney ahead of Doak.
For all the accolades that Doak has been getting, speed of getting the ball out is the area of like to ...

Yep I was thinking that he didn't arrive with us until the second Heineken cup game last year, but that was after the autumn internationals, not the rugby championship.Bobbievee wrote:Last game in series 24 sept, even if DV played it all. Why would we not have him until December?!

Duane Vermeulen
I see that Duane has recovered from his knee surgery over the summer and had been named in the Boks squad to take on the All Blacks in the rugby championship in a fortnight. https://www.springboks.rugby/news-features/articles/2022/07/23/vermeulen-and-steyn-back-in-the-mix-for-castle-lager-rugby-cham...

I wonder if McCloskey has done enough to bench at #23 on Saturday. Assuming Aki and Henshaw start, will 23 be a centre or an outside back given Carberry at 22 can cover FB showing Keenan to the wind is required?

Re: Heineken Cup 2021/22 Other Sides
In NZ, it appears that player turnover is also driven by the NZRU allocating players I think that super rugby franchises are allowed to name 28 players that they want first dibs on from their existing squad or their feeder NPC teams, after that it's pretty much a free market. I think NZRU control t...
