** New UAFC Gallery **

Post by fermain »

Due to popular demand, I've installed a new gallery to replace the old, static one, that wasn't getting updated as there was just too much work to do.

cpgallery/

This new gallery is database driven, and lets all youse lot add photos to any of the galleries avalable, using an upload form available under the '@' sign on the top menu.

Everyone who registers on the UAFC messageboard can upload photos. If you logon here, then you're already logged in on the gallery, and vice versa.

New suggestions for albums should be sent via pm to any of the mods or admins.

Photographs will be vetted at the minute to make sure no questionable photos make their way on. Spammers beware!!!!!

I get to the 'successfully uploaded 10 files' screen but when click on 'continue' to sort them into albums I get a 'page has expired' message.

are the pics there or not?

Try and make sure your pics are below the size limit before uploading as this would cause problems.

size limit is 1024kb

height x width limit is 800px

fermain - a couple of photos I submitted were in landscape format and need to be rotated to portrait. Is there a facility to do this on the gallery? If not, I'll re-submit the photos the right way round and make sure I check this the next time...

I've resubmitted the two photos in portrait format. Did you want me to resize the rest to 800pixels and resubmit these as well?

cheers,

In is absence Mike I would say yes, we probably need a simple tutorial in resizing for some people, there will be a few teething problems which will only show up with early use.

I don't know what software people are using but there is a pretty good tutorial on resizing here...

Ok happy punters I have found a simple Microsoft addon for Windows XP I have tested it by reducing a 47Mb photo down to 78kb so it works :D
Instructions
Programme
The programme is only 521 kb so is fast even for dialup.
Use the Medium 800 x 600 size for the photo gallery
