A copy of the warning we received in work today -
A new vulnerability has been discovered which allows a virus to be hidden within a Microsoft Word file.
Microsoft has issued the following advice:-
Do not open or save Word files that you receive from un-trusted sources or that you receive unexpectedly from trusted sources. This vulnerability could be exploited when a user opens a specially crafted Word file.
We are still waiting for Microsoft to provide a patch to remove this vulnerability.
In the mean time be extremely cautious of any Word file attached to an email. Any form of chain letter, chain warning with attachment, attachment funny and especially any "Christmas Special" attachment should be avoided.
