Move over Ulster - Western Force are back in town!!

Post by Cobber »

OK, I admit it - I'm about to relegate Ulster down the ladder just a wee bit to make room for The Western Force. Although the blue sea of Subiaco may not have quite the same ring to it as the Red Hand of Ulster, and although we will not be 'standing up' for the western force, we will apparently be "Standing as one" (if you think you can cope, listen to the horlix the suits have come up with for Western Force Club Song : http://rugbywa.com.au/emirates_western_ ... 50964.html ... but I digress....

I would like to say thank you to the players and supporters of Ulster for filling the void, fulfilling the need, and keeping the fires burning. On this eve of the Western Force returning to the paddock from whence they were born not 12 months ago on February 10, 2006 - I invite you all to say a little prayer for those poor kiwi feckers from the Otago Highlanders who are gonna get crushed come February 2, 2007.

Whilst we in Perth will be 'standing as one' at 7:05pm (GMT+9) on February 2nd 2007, I respectfully ask you all to Stand up for the Western Force!

C'arn The Force!

When too much rugby is barely enough! Super 14 is only just about to start, and will still finish a week earlier than the Magners League... think I might be just a little pumped....

Although I am a Waratahs fan I'm hoping that the 2007 season will be a succesful one for the Western Force (with the exception of 2nd March!). I think that a successful west coast team can only work to Strengthen Rugby in Australia.

From one match report

basic errors
error after error resulting in a very scrappy and slow game
no support and was penalised for holding on
turned over when his support failed to arrive
turned down kickable penalties opting for the line-out

Thought I was reading a report for an Ulster game

Cables, your right in your summing up. We had a shocker. 30542 fans at the game and 30000 were gobsmacked! We will improve no doubt, but after all the hype and expectation it was very disappointing.
Anyway lets move on a give the Stormers a touch up in Capetown next weekend.
Thanks for the support Ulstermen.

Bugger, bugger, crap!

Force 7, Highlanders 8!

Our scrummie who had a average season last year looks to have gotten his groove back, if he keeps it up he might wear the gold jersey come September!

Our new recruit Drew Mitchell had a shocker of a game at full back.

Many others had their ups and downs. Matt Giteau got the man of the match - not that he was brilliant, just arguably not as bad as the rest.

For the first game of the season with a bunch of new recruits it wasn't all that bad, but shoulda been a hell of a lot better!

I think I'm gonna go cry some more...
