Any team would have to be selected from this group, the guys on the 19s who were too old but still at school and anyone else who impressed during the season after the inter pros in September.

Maybe the fact that they have performed so badly in Inter pros is a reflection on selection with regards Ulsterplayers in the squad. Watched the School Cup and was very impressed by the Ballyclare 9.However Over all I thought it was poor rugby played by one team who just wanted to bash into things and another that was afraid to move the ball beyond 10-12.

Very surprised how few Methody supporters were there, in days of old, the pace would have been jammed packed with them.

Personally I thought it was a good final with some excellent rugby on show and the selection of the Methody lads is fully justified. On top of that you had MCB 2nd 15 beating Sullivan yesterday to reach the second 15 cup final and MCB 3rd 15 have also reached their final by beating Campbell College. Methodys second 15 squad is one of the youngest in a very long time which bodes really well for the next two years with a winning Medallion squad coming into the mix as well. :D

That still doesn't mean its a quality tournament(s). To have only 2 Ulster players in U18s squad is pathetic and very worrying.

So much depends on the players dob. If you were born before 31/12 you are too old for Irish Schools u18s. The guys in the list I copied above we're therefore out of the picture. These included a lot of the MCB guys. Those in the list copied by FL were available. However Ulster didn't have a good inter pro series and the initial squad was picked then. Also most of them didn't have a good cup run which would not have helped although interestingly the Campbell scrum half Fullerton appears to have come in late. All that said it is still worrying that we have only 2 in the squad.

To extend my previous comments to Ulsterham, I have just seen the Provisional training list for Ulster Schools Under 18 group. It has 53 players named and they represent 22 schools . We only have 31/32 affiliated schools, so this seems to be a fair spread to me.
