Last month Belvedere College named a Senior squad of 72 players for their Schools Cup run with 15 backroom staff supporting coaches Werahiko and Wood. Best Large Schoolboy Herd in Ireland?
In yesterday's Quarter Final against Newbridge they stuttered in the first half but power played their way to victory in the second half. As Werahiko admitted afterwards the impact of their early second wave off the bench had a massive contribution on the game.

RBAI lost to Belvedere first game of the season but went onto beat blackrock and draw with Clongowes. Yet I suspect more Leinster players will come from those schools compared to Ulster ones from inst

The search is for exceptional individual talent In each province. Michael Milne the Roscrea tight head scored two tries and was a real tyro in the defeat to St Mary's yesterday. Great to see two teams playing fast attacking rugby. Hats off to the lighter packed Mary's who worked tirelessly and found gaps in/ around the Roscrea ruck and out wide.

Belvo are a poor example they've won the past two leinster cups and to date have produced one academy player from those sides.

the team that wins the cup is the best team, not the team with the most talent.

Michaels have the most talent but will ultimately fall at the final hurdle to Blackrock, again.

RBAI will beat Methody in Ulster IMO.

PBC Cork will win in Munster.

Is it fair to start identifying "best" players at schoolboy?
At what point do we go for equality of opportunity?

Wouls UR not be better putting on a series of development sessions and inviting players who want to try and make it post schools to apply and spend time with pro coaches?

I remember when I was at school the hockey sides had regional development squads (which are now paying fruit with the national side improving). Does rugby have this?

There's bound to be an Irish Tadgh Furlong farting about in Omagh/Rainey or somewhere that because they dont get close to the latter stages of the cups and dont regularly play the marquee sides may get overlooked

put it simply, yes.

tadhg furlong was identified at 15 by Leinster and developed from there.
