Schools Cup

Post by pwrmoore »

From the UB SAchools Section to start things off:-

Northern Bank Schools' Cup Quarter Final Draw
11 February 2008, 10:30 am
By Maire Cahill

Matches to be played on Saturday 23rd February 2008
Campbell College V Methodist College Belfast
Ballymena Academy V Grosvenor G.S.
Regent House V Royal School Armagh
Ballyclare High School V Omagh Academy

Disappointed that my old school didn't make it to the QFs this year. With Inst akready out and one of CCB and Methody sure to lose out in the QF round this has to be a great opportunity for one of the other historically less successful schools to lift the cup again.
Paul.

Are Campbell really that good? Do you know something I don't or is that a wind-up?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Ballymena Academy scored four tries in a 25-3 win over Grosvenor Grammar School and Ballyclare High progressed 17-5 at the expense of Omagh High.

Regent House saw off Royal School Armagh 13-7 in the final match.

The semi-final draw sees Ballymena Academy play Campbell or Methody and Ballyclare take on Regent House.

Ballymena will play the winner of the Belfast derby on Tuesday 4 March with Ballyclare facing Regent on Thursday 6 March, both at Ravenhill.

Holders RBAI were knocked out in the previous round.

Quarter-final results
Campbell College 0-0 Methodist College
Ballymena Academy 25-3 Grosvenor GS
Regent House 13-7 Royal School Armagh
Ballyclare High 17-5 Omagh Academy

Semi-final draw

Looks like it was an action packed affair at Fox's Field! Could be an all country final on the way!

MCB 17 - 0 CCB.

Sorry to disappoint all you methody haters out there but you'll just have to keep your jealousy bubbling for a wee while longer.

Ray Morris and Michael Allen scored first-half tries and Patrick Robinson added a try and conversion in the second half to seal the success.

The Belfast school will now take on Ballymena Academy in the first of the semi-final matches on Tuesday 4 March.

Ballyclare High School play Regent House in the second semi-final on Thursday 6 March, both at Ravenhill.
