Yeah I wasn't sure wether Moxham had already been promoted to academy this year or not, nearly sure I read he had a place in the academy after getting a few Ulster caps off the bench.

Saunderson LH prop
Egan TH prop
Charlie Ward[?] lock
Sheridan Lock/blindside
McKee scrum half
Humph jr Outhalf
Postlethwaite centre/wing
Ben Moxham centre/wing

maybe Conor McMenamin [lock]?
George Saunderson, Oscar Egan, Charlie Irvine, Harry Sheridan, Conor McKee, James Humphreys, Jude Postlethwaite, Ben Moxham.. I think

Moxham might be announce as going into year 2 as he got a contract earlier this season IIRC

An Ireland u20s talent camp was held over the weekend the following players from Ulster in attendance :

Oscar Egan (QUB RFC) Tighthead prop
Conor McKee (QUB RFC) Scrum half
George Saunderson (QUB RFC) Loosheid prop
James McCormick (Ballymena RFC) Hooker
Lorcan McLaughlin (QUB RFC) ?
James Humphreys (QUB RFC) Outhalf
Harry Sheridan (DUFC) Lock/blindside flanker

Hadn't heard McLaughlin mentioned? Surprised no Postlethwaite/Moxham and I thought Stewart was still eligible but maybe Ulster are holding him back? Saunderson is a big lad..Leinster and Munster had higher representation.

McLaughlin came through Exiles, back row / No.8

The pick on that list for me is Oscar Egan, very powerful ball carrier, suffered a horrific knee injury playing for Ulster U19 against Leinster, if he comes back to where he was I've great hopes for him.

I'm not that excited by Saunderson, though I've only seen him 2-3 times, so hopefully I'm wrong. He certainly has the frame.

Haven't seen either play but I noticed they both have featured at underage level for Ireland, Saunderson is in the National Talent Squad so hopefully that is indicative of some potential. Hopefully we'll see how both go for the u20s.

I fear the academy system will go backwards now

I have a list of 22 possibilities for the Academy next season. No doubt it will be a smaller number but do not disappoint me too much !
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

AFAIK the IRFU have decided that no province will have an academy intake for next season due to a lack of rugby to assess players on. The players will remain on NTS and PTS for a season before decisions are made. Probably a small cost cutting measure at the same time.

NTS and PTS lads from Ulster will still use Ulster academy training facilities therefore all amounts to the same thing?

https://www.ulsterrugby.com/2021/05/hog ... -a-return/

Ulster Rugby and the IRFU have today confirmed that Gavin Hogg will take the helm of the Ulster Rugby Academy, with former Ulster player, Willie Faloon, joining him as part of the structure.

Hogg, who has held the role of Rugby Development Manager in the province since February 2019, boasts an extensive coaching CV, with a strong focus on player development. Before joining Ulster, Hogg was Director of Rugby at Bury-St-Edmonds RFC, Head Coach at Old Albanian RFC and Elite Player Development Coach for U14-16s at Northampton. As Ulster Rugby Academy Manager, he will oversee the implementation of the IRFU High Performance strategy within the Academy set-up going forward and will take up the position in June. Former Ulster and Connacht openside flanker, Willie Faloon, also joins the Academy this summer as Elite Performance Development Officer, specialising in forwards play.

Don't anything about Hogg but good to see Willie back as from what I heard he's a very good coach- big loss for Armagh though..

Been to a game at Bury St Edmunds when he was in charge. He did very well there. Saw his OAs team too when he kept them in Nat League 1 initially.
