The Academy has been announced - 5 new guys, Happy to see Sheridan in there, Saunderson needs work at scrum time but looks like a big lad and Postlethwaite looks excellent. Not sure on Humphreys and McKee.
Missing guys - Oscar Egan?? Maybe in the sub academy ? Hopefully Azur Allison comes through this season..

Not just Egan but McMenahin, Irvine, McLaughlin, Dundas, Finlay, and Houston? Truth to tell I am a bit disappointed to hear only twelve of the eighteen possibles made the Academy. Perhaps the rest are all still sub-acadermy?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

From what I heard because of the lack of rugby played last year they were limited on the number of Academy contracts that could be given out to schools players (note that all the players that have joined played for the 20s or A's last season).

Will guess when the AIL starts up again there may be a few more additions as the season progresses.

Ulster U18s clubs beat Connacht 34-24

- match report- https://www.irishrugby.ie/2021/08/22/ul ... -thriller/
The out half Gibson gets a good few mentions.

Ulster U19s beat Connacht 22-19,
Match report- https://www.irishrugby.ie/2021/08/22/ul ... ing-start/
From the report the pack went very well- the number 8, McNabney looks like a big lad, Paddy Brown at 6 and Charlie Irvine at lock making notable contributions. The 9 - Johnson apparently did well too.

Good start to the interprovincials..

Good highlights on u18's and u19's

Gibson the outhalf, who is under-17 and a schools player looked very good for the clubs side. Big and athletic. Also impressed by the Monaghan based fullback.

For the 19's, the number 8 is a big athletic carrier, looking forward to seeing more of him. Irvine at 5 looks a big athletic lock too. Both look pretty promising from an Ulster POV.

Cheers for that- yeah the u18s look to have the backs and the u19s seem to have the forwards. Those four look good, I'd only heard a bit about Irvine, McCabney at 8 looks very good- surprisingly athletic for a guy his size.

Thanks for that Bayern, was quite entertaining matches! Agree with a lot of the above on the players from what little you can glean in a few minutes of highlights.
