Ok, nearly there, looks a fair list with a couple of those on development contracts. Who is Atkinson?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

That's 20 players, can't see that number being in, we always have around 12-15 at most.

Which is the problem.. need bodies, having 20 in the academy yearly allows players to develop etc.

McCall and Simpson weren't.. both in the academy last year..

jackson was never in the academy and considering his age he probably is too old to start now..

Jonny Murphy is odd, he has rarely played for the Ravens and he isn't exactly young.. with McCall and Jackson also around, i'm sort of surprised he is still being kept on

Development i think... most players graduating from academy end up on a development deal.

Lot of thinking, little knowing.

Is Jackson living on thin air to train all week with the seniors? McCall was on a development contract this season just past and if Simpson didn't get a development deal last season (he was meant to) he will be on one for the incoming season.

there are full contracts, development contracts and academy contracts..

Usually a player leaves the academy and gets a development contract then moves onto a full contract, leaves or extends his development deal.. some players go from academy to full but its a rare occurrence..

development deals are one year in length..academy contracts length vary but are generally one year deals too, full contracts can vary..

Jackson would be on a development deal if he does in fact skip the academy because of his age..

I have nothing against Trenier but the idea of signing up Leinster players at the expense of our own, especially when the local is at the very least a similar level, doesn't sit overly well with me personally.
in fairness to you, that's a good point! I was very impressed by Taylor last year as well, and find it a bit surprising that he seems to have gone off the radar - where has he been playing his club rugby? That said, I don't have a big problem with casting the net wide for talent - we have definitely had a problem over the last couple of years getting guys up to the right level, fixing that will likely take another year or two, in the meantime I think we need to play smart..
