Presuming the press invites have went out?
It's always been a respectful , limited, low profile event.
Hopefully it will remain so.
Hopefully, but somehow I don't think so.
You actually think those so badly offended will actually turn up

Well if people are prepared to go to all that trouble of making a comment on social media, they'll not want to miss the normal, traditional ceremony.

Not just Kingston's fear. Fear of a lot of us

Given of course how shocking our PR team is

Wonder have the band been invited?

Nobody has looked at my linkedin so I do not know

What I do know is that NIs new head of communications has just overseen a clusterballix of a kit launch. Wonder where they got him?

There's an opportunity here to get a decent crowd out and hopefully that may encourage UR to up the profile of the twos.

Poor form. 100% baulk regarding the trend towards Poppy Facism and invading personal choice, but UR is an collective entity not an individual, and some effort should've been made, given it's history.

But should we expect any better from UR, who also shat it when IRFU reneged on the long standing Anthem deal for the Pre-RWC friendly at Ravers with Italy?... I noted even the Irish Ladies Hockey team, from memory, wouldn't let anyone away with that cr*p.

Basically, it pigeonholes UR with the ignorant such as the G8ttersnipe chuckies like McClean who haven't an ounce of respect or brains to really understand what it's about, and the PUL cretins, who similarly haven't a clue, but wear it to coat trail; and gives tw*ts like Nolan, the DUP and the BT something to bluster about. Not that I give a shyte about their opinions, but it was the appropriate thing for UR to show recognition, nothing more or less.

Time to move on.

Anyway, seemingly at odds with most, I thought Diack was excellent, two daft pens notwithstanding, McCall proved why he should be a regular in the squad, and pushing the cosy complacency out of Warwick and CB. Still better at Tighthead though.... but he had his Dragons T/H in all sorts of bother.
Equally excellently, Nelson was pretty rock, and has benefitted from the confidence of being selcted, starting, and not having some pr*ck Kiwi telling him he's shyte as man management.
Sam Arnold, despite his promise, still looks a bit green and not as good as he thinks he is, but with a killer sidestep. A lot to learn. Better from FVDM and Chewy, but honestly, Lewis is playing better than both atm.

Jacko- still no.2 O/Half in Ireland, regardless of what Joe Shyte thinks.
Smallp, try aside, was the usual roller coaster of gash and pretty good- he butchered at least 3 try scoring chances with passes that couldn't hit the a*se of a bull elephant with a banjo. Bless.

Point taken, though, it's Dragons, not Sorries or Toulouse, but small steps I suppose.

Ladybois still to win the Pro 12 and last 4 inSDC though. We've lost the arms race, along with Munter.
UR already recognises the significance of Remembrance day. It has a permanent reminder in the shape of the Memorial Arch and went to the trouble of ensuring that this remained untouched when the rest of the ground was being rebuilt. UR also has a dignified memorial service which people are free to attend. I'm sure that there also plenty of poppy trays around receprion in UR so that staff and visitors alike can make a donation and wear a poppy if they want. Why do we need poppies on shirts? Why does UR have to make a collective gesture when we're all very capable of deciding individually whether or not we wish to support a particular charity? I don't need the rugby team I support to do my thinking for me or to make choices on my behalf. I bought a season ticket to watch rugby, not so that UR could become my social conscience. Unfortunately that seems to be the norm these days. And the pressure to conform to someone else's idea of what constitutes 'repect' just keeps getting more intense. If someone pops up on tv 'poppyless' they're torn to shreds by Dail Mail / dup / twitter morons. If Jeremy Corbyn doesn't tilt to a satisfactory 90 degree angle at the cenotaph, he's accused of lacking respect by right wing nutters. Maybe we should all get silly haircuts and invite Kim Jung-on to be our leader. He'd feel right at home.

Just to reply:

If you recall correctly UR had planned to move the arch against a wall at the Mount Merrion road side, this idea was only disclosed when the plans went public and was then challenged,

"IF" the World Cup comes to Ireland 2023 and we go with Logies grand plan to fill in the corners (permanently) will the Memorial arch be left in situ? and with respect?

You state( and apparently with some authority)"UR also has a dignified memorial service which people are free to attend" so I assume you know more about it, or is it just that assumption? How are people informed of the "Dignified Service"

Can you or someone enlighten us to what the dignified memorial service entails ? , have you witnessed it or is UR doing your thinking for you? maybe its just one committee member putting a wreath at the arch ? Or is it the full hog, Branch Committee with those entitle to wear their medals etc and with local dignitaries and maybe the Ulster Rugby Chaplin saying a few words, even a bugler playing last post, maybe even last year they forgot about the "dignified service" until the afternoon ! Please sir enlighten us.

Where the players "individually allowed the opportunity to decide? or was it a corporate decision.

Personally i think we have the individual right to chose how we celebrate Remembrance day, but when things are done hamfisted and with some embarrassment its makes it worse

Now now Kofi. Play nice

I'm still shocked UR hasn't released a statement today on anything

Must be a youtube video brewing, presume we'll have Henry, Best, PJ and Lesbian totted out to talk about UR values
