Citings are rare in Inter-pros . But occur more frequently in European games. If the ref misses it in Pro14 then it is a forgotten accident since the team affected by the foul play receives no benefit from a citing.

European Cup games are different because the format is different and the a citing may still assist the team affected by foul play.

It has to be remembered that the incident was an accidental clash of heads and not a deliberate act to maim the player .

Addison fell because there was a degree of intent but the reality was he failed to make any contact -- he was found guilty of intent in my opinion .

McAllister cited for his tackle with Coetzee and will face a panel tomorrow.

Whilst I dont believe there was intent he negated his duty of care, it was completely reckless.

Therefore red card and a couple of weeks off.

Rum you're talking through your hoop, accidental or not doesn't come into it. He knew using the technique (or lack of) that he did chances of a bad outcome were increased. Nothing stopping him from tackling low for example.

We're now facing three massive games without our best player due to McAllisters stupidity.

Addison decision here

Addison was found to have no intent but was reckless.

The tackle on Marcel has now been officially cited and the hearing is to be arranged.

Pretty much sums up McAllister's challenge although maybe I'd add the superlative "very" to reckless.

Matu'u ( LI) got 5 weeks for attempting a tackle with arms but having his head up and making contact with his head.
Point well made that citing afterwards is no consolation to UR. Why does video officiAl not intervene on the spot?

Absolutely no consistency on how these "accidental collisions" are dealt with when you consider Addison got four weeks. World Rugby needs to get its act together on how it wants to enforce this.

How can two citing panels rule so differently?

They were very different incidents.

Will took a 30 yard run up for a start.

Shocking decision to have no ban for Paddy Mac, is head on head in a tackle not a red card by the laws these days?

The inconsistency across the board re discipline decisions is very poor. The Addison one, this one, the 2 Italian props only getting 3 weeks for the spear tackle in the RWC and the La Rochelle player only getting 6 weeks for eye gouging this year in Heineken Cup.

Have to agree that this was a shocking decision. No doubt the collision was accidental as Paddy Mac is not the sort of person to do it deliberately, but ‘accidental’ is no sort of defence these days. It was clear at the time that it was a no arms tackle, head in head, and hard. Very poor decision which is bad for the game. Players have to learn to tackle properly and with due care.

Addison was found no intent but reckless. 4 weeks.

30 yard exaggeration.... McAllister had plenty of time to assess also, he was not blindsided.

McAllister had no intent but was reckless.

He had opportunity to tackle lower.
