Henderson and Stockdale having a festive rest as they were at RWC. No Carty or Aki for Connacht, similar reason.

Was in Japan for 5 minutes metaphorically, but yes probably sitting this one out and back for Munster like the others.

Jordi who wasn't included in the 45 player meet up?

Two strong sides in spite of IRFU rest protocol. Great to see players returning from injury and in Addisons case suspension.
Good to see O’Connor junior on bench was impressed by his 80 minute stint last week. With the exceptions of the missing Hendy Jacob and Jordi this must be virtually a first choice side which together with the likelyhood of a full house should make for a good night.

Neither was Jack Carty, but he was in Japan and is not in the Connacht 23. Played v Munster. I am told everyone who was in Japan has to take 2 consecutive week break at this time of year.

He was, got a lovely holiday. Didn't get on the pitch mind unlike the other Ulster lads. The selections for Munster Leinster will be interesting.

An interview with Dan went up on the42.ie yesterday and think it's worth a read.

https://www.the42.ie/dan-mcfarland-ulst ... 9-Dec2019/

Thought one of the most interesting things were the comments with respect to our attack:
“Attack-wise, I love the system that we play. Dwayne [Peel, attack coach] has a really strong philosophy on the way that he wants to play the game. That’s evident in the way we play. The thing we need to improve, somewhere a team like Leinster is so far ahead of us, is their ability to be precise and to be consistently precise.

“That’s not a quick fix, that’s a long-term development process through the way that you train. I don’t ever want to become a team that fears risk and doesn’t want to play near the edge because if you don’t play near the edge, you don’t find out your limits, so we’re going to have trouble with that.
It reminds me of the journey Connacht went through under the first couple of years of Pat Lam. The high risk rugby often backfired for them initially, but when they got the hang of it it worked out well enough. Probably not too surprising that he wants Ulster play in a similar attacking manner to the Connacht and Glasgow teams he coached, but still good to hear and the thought that we could be on a similar path, with all things going well, as fairly exciting.

Fairly harsh yellow for Herring. I’m sure we should have had a pen for a neck roll in the early stages of that siege. We did well to hold out.

14-3 at h/t.

Superb try for Billy. Bobby B looks very dangerous.

Nasty bang on the nut for Marcel and Louis having to sit on the cart can’t be good.

Coetzee head collision should be a citing, not dissimilar to what Addison was hit for.

If bealham escapes a ban for that hit on marcel I'll be surprised. Addison got 4 weeks for less.
