HEC qualification 2020/21

Post by big mervyn »

I really do not believe this season will be concluded now.

Bad news for Leinster, and of course, anyone unfortunate enough to succumb to this illness.

It does pose a question about next season's European qualification.

Two options as I see it.

1. Run with the same teams that qualified this year.

Leinster; Glasgow; Ulster; Munster; Connacht; Benetton; Ospreys

or

2. Base qualification on current league positions (2 pts allocated for any games in hand).

Leinster; Edinburgh; Munster; Ulster; Scarlets; Glasgow; Connacht

Natural justice would seem to favour the second option, particularly with regard to Embra and the Ospreys.

Do we not need an Italian team? Benetton in for Connacht? Or is it Glasgow?

That rule doesn't apply any more Solids. Top 7 on merit now.

Didn't know that. I bet the Italians aren't happy. Can you imagine what the Scots or Welsh would say if they didn't have a team in Europe. Or, of course, the Irish, in theory.

I would imagine it will be on the league standings now and also think the league will have to move to straight to the play offs if the season will finish
