Ulster v Benetton MoTM
Welcome back to the 2020/21 Guinness Pro 14!!!
The standard of rugby and ball retention on display tonight was excellent I thought, but we showed a frailty in defense that needs to be addressed as we will be punished more against the better teams.
Matty Rea was the official MoTM, but who was yers??

Hume for me, a real attacking presence and made a pretty decent amount of tackles.

Some good performances from the youngsters- Moore did very well but inexperience saw him caught offside 2 or 3 times, Hume was strong and dependable. The bench didn’t let us down - big Gareth looked solid and McCann didn’t look out of place at all. Overall I thought the back row were particularly strong with Rea and Reidy putting in a solid shift but for me Coetzee was once again a standout performer! That said much improvement needed especially with re-starts, line outs and defence! An enjoyable game nonetheless!
Hope is not a strategy.

Restart reception, restarts and follow up to clearance kicks remains weak. Young players played well and subs did not weaken the team. Lowry is as brave as they come but he is getting hammered in defence but never shirks a challenge however he will get injured.
The most disappointing part of this evenings well organised game was the second half performance which saw Ulster play in own half for 30 minutes of the half.

Marcell was Ulster's best player.
Maybe I should copy and paste that for the rest of the season.

I thought that Marty Moore showed how good he can be so I award him my man of the match.

Marty needs plenty of game time. 6 month lay-offs aren't in his best interests.

the voting shows the fact all made a contribution and all made mistakes individually and jointly and I gave my vote to McCann first game and basically did nothing wrong while on the pitch -- give the lad some encouragement

Yes it's great to see a good spread of voted this week. Lots of work to do collectively.
