Maybe Madigan had to get away from the Leinster forward domination game favoured by Leo to develop an open game approach rather than the boot game. His basic problem at leinster was the time of his passing -- and both Byrnes ( Ross and Harry ) have the same failing

They fail to run on to the ball frequently enough and pass on the run its about sequencing feet and arms, get it wrong and the pass is mistimed. Which means that they play static either kick or shuffle the ball out to a static first centre. Some wonder why McCloskey has so few games for Ireland -- McCloskey needs two paces to to start to get up speed -- the Leinster out half don't give him that .

Its the nature of the Leinster game, they play for position by kicking, use the forwards to dominate in the red area, suck the opposition in ,before shuffling the ball wide.

I wasn't a huge fan of his when he was at Leinster but his attitude and work ethic at Ulster have really changed my point of view. I think he is our best 10 (sorry Billy) and he is very unlucky not to be winning caps given Ireland's situation at 10. He was outstanding against Glasgow and I would have given him MoTM.

Simply a great signing. He is a superb out half who should be considered for Ireland as he is the best back up out half to Sexton that there is.

Agree great signing, and has been in brilliant form for us!
And from what I have seen a really positive influence in the squad...

Our best "backup" outhalf of the pro era by quite a distance.

It's not just what he is offering on the pitch but also what he is giving off it. By all accounts he's mentoring and accelrating the development of our young backs no end. I think both young Doak and McIlroy went as far as to name check him in recent interviews. Remember him also having a quiet moment with young Hume just after the Pro 14 final last season, helping him back up off the canvas.

I said elsewhere bang for buck he's up there with the big Nick signing.

I wish I could pull off his haircut also. Sexy beast!

Great signing, both on and off the pitch I believe. For me should be our starting 10.
