Marco V. Masotti, the owner of South Africa's Sharks rugby team, is also part of the six-person consortium.
This could have consequences for any proposed South African involvement in Heineken Cup?

I don't believe you can have stakes in two teams.
The IRFU do :duck:
Well played sir >appl a classic case of double standards!

Thought I had dreamt it but managed to find a couple of examples on google.....

https://www.theoffsideline.com/heidelbe ... lenge-cup/
“On the basis that Dr Hans-Peter Wild, who is the majority shareholder of Stade Français Paris and the primary financial backer of Heidelberger RK, would be in a position to influence or to control the management or performance of two clubs in the same competition, EPCR decided that the German club could not participate. A replacement club will be announced shortly.”
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/39633779
And while you can understand the concerns over Conflict of Interest - Montpellier and Gloucester may be in the same European competition next season - Altrad could point to the models in Ireland and Scotland, where their professional teams are owned and controlled by the same paymasters, namely the Ireland and Scottish rugby unions.
Now, question is.

Will the money grabbing Premiership teams and European Rugby make an exception to get the Saffer teams into the tournament?

"Vexilology is the study of wot?" - question on Mastermind a few minutes ago ...

As was "who made his debut for Spurs in 1961, scoring in the FA cup final that year but famously lost his place in the England World Cup winning team to Geoff Hurst?"

Are the questions on Mastermind now taken from this website?

Heaven help anyone who gets a question on a Rumn post!

Nah - they get two and a half minutes on General knowledge.

None at all on Cap'n knowledge.

The ultimate would be a Fleg post question though. So many options. >EW

They'd probably have that as a finial question. :duck:

The Irfu only have a stake because the sides are representative ie the players are members of clubs in which the Irfu have no stake but do have control because they are affiliated to their provinces -- It is the players who are paid by the Irfu through the provinces .

The provinces being managed by committees of local representatives of the Clubs within that Province .

The Irfu interest is basically similar to that each countries governing body -- but also being the pay master funding each province. it has influence without full control.
Within this carapace of skepticism there lives an optimist

Pretty sure it was the IRFU that sacked Logan ( ) and appointed Petrie
