Interesting.

Retirement plans are now Toulon then Japan then Ulster?

Fair play for to him for keeping going at such a high level for so long. I think we need to accept he's a bit of a freak in that respect. Fingers crossed he can continue it.

This will be great for the likes McCann to be mentored by such a top player.

Well worth telling Nakarawa to feck off.

Wow and faur play 2yr deal at his age names sense. Also runs until rwc 23. Usually a raft of players become available from after the tournament so timing could work well for future signings.

Optimism and enthusiasm for the new season has increased!

Agreed. My sense is that he is not quite ready yet and ulster are taking a measured approach to his development, because of the potential he has. Skill level is there but it's the other attributes he will learn most.

Vermuelen is as hard as nails and is also fantastic on the deck. Will be a great mentor for McCann.

That's a genuine holy feck signing, hugely well done to all involved. Big enough call (on the optics, at least) to pull out of the Nakawara deal but you can't help but be impressed with the behind the scenes operation between both. Now he just has to pass the medical :duck:

Much needed in terms of first XV and Great for McCann, Timoney, et al. Up there with the best Coetzee replacement imaginable really. Fingers crossed for another Ulster-Saffa romance.

Wonderful news, great job! I guess the IRFU had to pull something out of the bag for Ulster with all that has went on. Will help us hugely both on and off the field I'm sure.
