WRU group chief executive Roger Lewis said: "The shocking verbal abuse that was directed from spectators to the Toulouse players is something we totally condemn.
"No spectator should ever believe they have the power to abuse players and force them into a position which jeopardises their career."
This whole thing has turned into a Mexican stand off à la Spaghetti Western with each side is backing their man to the hilt. The WRU peice is only doing the same. What I find the saddest is the amount of hatred and bile that has been directed at Ulster fans from many different quarters such as newspapers & other fan sites. I could probably add here and be right in saying, the majority of which weren't at the ST match and have never been to Ravenhill either. No fan at Ulster would say that we are angels, I, for one, thought that the booing of Martin Johnson was particularily disrespectful but being non-angelic doesn't mean we deserve the reputation that so many want to lay on our laps.
Where does the WRU Chief get his information about the abuse directed at the Toulouse players? The only one who has claimed anything as far s I'm aware is T Brennan. If "abuse" was directed at Alfie I'm certainly not aware of his claims. I thought he was backing up his mate TB, based on what TB had told him, as there's absolutely no way he could have heard anything being said to TB.
This is just getting ridiculous now imho .......... I think the best thing would be just to leave as is & wait for the ERC ruling on Brennan before any more sh**e is stirred .........
