Forget your cider drinkers thread and any other discussions on the best whiskies/whiskeys etc today ...... there's only one acceptable drink for many today.
You may return to your preferred tipple after you have raised a glass of
Famous Grouse to your lips.....
The toast is, "
Absent friends"
Still missing you big man.

I didn't know that was his tipple.

Given my current state of immobility I'll have to toast him at home with a Highland Park, I'm sure he wouldn't object.

Support the team and coaching staff. Forget the rest,BUT NEVER MOVE ON.

Not at all Baggy - my post is of course prescriptive and slightly tongue in cheek.
Cables would have defended the right of anyone to toast (or not to toast) with whatever tipple they preferred .... and quite right he would have been too!

It was always a wee Grouse I had with Cables in the Scoop.

Sure you're always grousin' about something. Sorry I missed this on Wednesday

The irreplaceable has never been replaced. May have to have a late toast this evening to the great man.

Paul.

5 years - hard to believe, but sadly it's true.
Last year I temporarily distracted from a cider drinkers thread that was current then.
This year i will attempt to distract momentarily from another thread that is ongoing with this load of tosh ....... and cables would have defended my right to post such tosh into the bargain. He wouldn't have liked it, but he would have defended my right to do it.
There once was a man named cables
On whom no one could turn the tables
He was so great at stats
We all raised our hats
Sadly he’s now joined the angels
A man who reached firm conclusions
He was a great supporter of ‘Unions’
To a couple he swayed
Namely ‘Rugby’ and ‘Trade’
With zeal but no disillusions
The same man was also called Stanley
He drank Scotch, was hirsute and manly.
He was incredibly bright
And liked things done right
So he wouldn’t like how this limerick ends
Miss you mucker!
