...............doesn't seem to be much in Bourgoin, would it be better to stay in Lyon?

Anybody any experience on either of these places?

Lyon's pretty ugly around the train station and suburbs - but quite nice by the rivers, and loads of fantastic restaurants (I think it has the highest density of michelin stars in the world or some such..) I think it can be quite pricy for hotels but it's quite a while since i stayed there..

PS: I STILL THINK POSITIVE DISCRIMINATION IS SOMETIMES A GOOD IDEA!!

Apparently Lyon has more Michelin star restaurants per unit area than anywhere else in the world.

Hope that's helpful. :D

I was there the last time - our first time in Europe as champions - Joe Fatty Fijian eating dirt throughout - coldest I've ever been at a match - thanks goodness for the vin chaude. Remember this is north of the usual sunny south of France rugby we are used to.

Lyon is a great place to stay - as has been pointed out some brilliant restaurants (though I did see Andy Ward eating in MacDonalds there!). I would suggest staying in Lyon - but going to Bourgoin on the morning of the match. The rugby club have an excellent shop in the town - full of claret and blue souvenirs (of which I, naturally, approve). The locals love their rugby and will make us all very welcome.
If only everyone had Neil McMillan's dedication....

I'm planning the winter's weekends around the Heineken Cup as always. When is the actual fixture list out? Is it July?!

Weekend in Lyon sounds good!
