Post by UlsterNo9 »

The Westies 10 - 5 up playing into the wind.

Serious question how many NIQ in the Connacht (development province) starting XV?

Connacht playing the best rugby of all the provinces at the moment.

One - AJ MacGinty. They also have George Naoupu on the bench so two in the 23.

What an exciting and entertaining game after yesterdays Leinster v. Ulster dross. You have to hand it to the Westies for playing great running rugby. Several unheralded players (Marmion, Healy, Ronaldson, O'Halloran, Muldoon, Dillane, Buckley) far more impressive than their international counterparts of yesterday. Time some of these lads got a bit of recognition on the international squad. Hope they can keep it up for the second half but Munster at Thomond is always tough nut to crack.

Get that Aki boy straight onto the Ireland team if that's the case.

But I think you're right plus Aki. :thumleft: Fewer than I gave credit.

Great to see, nice expansive rugby.

Aki is a project. Will be IQ at the start of next season I believe. Why I didn't include him.

Are Connacht playing well? I think Munster have been terrible.

Connacht made them look terrible. All credit to the Westies for playing enterprising rugby. Well deserved win, especially with the dodgy Munster penalty try.

Dreadful yellow card and penalty try decision against Connacht by Whitehouse aided by McDowell.

On this showing Connacht will beat Leinster and Ulster.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Yes - McDowell talked him into it after the ref has decided it wasn't worth the penalty try. Apart from that he had a good game. Justice done in the end.

I'd have no problem with Connacht beating us IF we could play the same brand of rugby as them. It shows the difference a world class coach can make.
