Re: Irel;and v France
Is the whole "hands going forward" thing new this season. Have IRB issued a clarification or new law?
Never came across it before this season and now its cropping up everywhere!

Yes, it was as if Walsh wasn't happy that the ball was clearly forward that he want an excuse to allow it anyway.big mervyn wrote:They dwelt on that "hands going forward" aspect for a worrying period.Snipe Watson wrote:Did anyone else think the (English) TMO was going to bottle the call on the forward pass before Steve Walsh, the world's best straight referee, made the call himself?
Had if been allowed it would have been an altogether bigger scandal than
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

The linguistic phenomenon to which you refer is Tmesis - for all his grandiose, bombastic, bullshitting, Brian Moore obviously didn't know that or he would have delighted in enlightening the masses.BR wrote:It was! And it was!OneMore wrote: Was it not 'out-f*cking-standing'?

Not T20, but France were the last silver medalists in the summer olympicsbig mervyn wrote:If France had a T20 cricket team you might just have got away with itCap'n Grumpy wrote: (Does this require a seperate thread elsewhere?)

Called that at the time, but ref didn't go upstairs. It was as if he was simply concerned with where it was grounded, but in the melee, forgot to consider how it came to be there.

On another note, thought it was a nice touch that he (the French hooker whose name I can never remember or pronounce) gave Jonny Sexton a pat and a handshake as he was stretchered off. One of the small things that make me love rugby.

Ah that'd explain it. Still a nice gesture though.damianmcr wrote:Team mates at Racing Metro.shamalicious wrote:On another note, thought it was a nice touch that he (the French hooker whose name I can never remember or pronounce) gave Jonny Sexton a pat and a handshake as he was stretchered off. Re: Irel;and v France
Sorry if it's already been discussed; after last weeks game a few people had raised the question / suggestion that BOD blanked Andy T. Anyway when the final whistle went yesterday those two certainly weren't shy about celebrating together. A fairly warm embrace followed by bouncing up and down. http://youtu.be/1soGf0ofmcg. About 38 seconds again
Re: Irel;and v France
I was yellin FORWARD FORWARD at the TV and when I heard Walsh come of with something about did the hands go forward or did the ball drift forward I near keeked myself.Snipe Watson wrote:Did anyone else think the (English) TMO was going to bottle the call on the forward pass before Steve Walsh, the world's best straight referee, made the call himself?
Call me simple but I think if the ball goes forward in any way it should be a forward pass.
