Well I guess I have to say as you beat us in Dublin the best side won..............just.
Oh and Baggy Lawes tackle was exactly what living on the edge these days is about, his timing was spot on as was his technique. Remember he did it twice in one game to Toby Flood before he left us for sunnier climes. Back in the day I recall everyone tried to do it to Les Cusworth, both in a Tigers shirt and an England one, it's not a new thing in the game, the slow mo replays are the new thing.

Thanks for that TB but as I've already had similar advice here, I'll disregard what you say as I disregarded others. I can't show you any special treatment just because you are an Englishman.

The clues are there, Lawes was only borderline late, that mattered not a jot to him, he knew he wasn't going to stop Plisson from making the pass, he was 5 feet from Plisson when the ball was released. He simply got away with it, knew he was late but not hugely so, he saw the chance to do damage (Why is it always small men do you think?) and he went after it 100%, a cowards hit on an unprotected back & neck, similar in intent to Pascal Pape, designed to damage, but less clearly illegal.

Now in England that may pass as "good hit", some here agree with that, not me, it reminds me of the detritus that floats on ponds, pondscum I believe it's called. Lawes is a decent player, a fine athlete but he is a cheap shot merchant with loads of previous, just like his club skipper. I despise such players with a passion, I wouldn't pish on him if he were alight.

You nailed it there, Baggy. Lawes, IMO, was out deliberately to do a lot of damage to Plisson and it was amazing that he was able to play on and finish the match

Not the way I see it PWRM. To me, his head and shoulders were knocked below his hips and legs. No lifting => No offence.

I agree that "technically" it had the qualifications for a tip tackle and Plisson's head was used as a plough, but as I've said I wouldn't do him for that as it was largely resulting from the jerks & bending of Plisson's body from impact rather than anything deliberate, but I have vague, but probably vain, hopes of Lawes being cited for a late, reckless & very dangerous tackle.

Once more, as I've already said, I'm astonished that Plisson played on & played well. Lawes is a cheapshot specialist, had he not been a sportsman I assume he would have ended up as a thug of some description, such is his fondness for picking on smaller men. Utter Dirtbag.

England I believe scored 55 points against France only because England are brilliant. And they didn't give away 35 points due to poor defence.

Perhaps the only thing that saved Plisson from getting wrecked was that he didn't see Lawes coming and so didn't tense up?
I definitely do not agree that it was "spot on"; it was a cheap shot intended to harm.

England I believe scored 55 points against France only because England are brilliant. And they didn't give away 35 points due to poor defence.

Ireland, under Joe Schmidt, wouldn't concede 35 points to the best team in the world. Never.

The Welsh should not say too much. The pathetic Italians surrendered, gave up the ghost, stopped tackling and allowed them to play unopposed rugby in the second half and run up a cricket score. Embarrasing and shameful to see an international team behave like that. I would have been quite piissed if Wales had nicked the 6N after that.

I'm on to post a congratulatory note to JS. I was openly critical of him last week and the lack of adventure that Ireland had shown to date in the 6N. Saturday was truly magnificent and hats off to the players. One could ask why it took to the fifth match to play like that. I'm sure its already been discussed earlier on this thread but I'm too lazy to look.
What I would say is that for me that's the way rugby should be played ie trying to win rather than afraid of losing. Lets hope Ireland and indeed Ulster adopt this approach.

All the teams involved knew what was needed once Wales cut Italy to shreds.

They produced because they had no alternative, had Ireland won against Wales last week I just don't believe they would have scored 40 on Saturday, the only incentive would have been to ensure they won.

Likewise England had a target, that they didn't make it can only be down to everything being unfair.

I believe it can't be long until bonus points are introduced because so many recent championships have effectively been shared & decided on points difference. It would be good to have an occasional "real" winner, though for sheer drama, Saturdays games would be hard to beat under any format.
