Six Nations Final Week

Super Saturday to finish off this year's tournament

14:30 Wales Italy BBC/RTE Romain Poite
17:00 Ireland Scotland ITV/RTE (Freeview only) Pascal Guazere
20:00 France England BBC/RTE Nigel Owens

The only way is up for the Italians after their awful display v Ireland - could be a similar outcome in Cardiff. Ireland Scotland could actually be a decent game, hoping it is as I am going down to watch it. Should be a good day out regardless :D

France are playing pretty poorly at the minute, England should beat them - but if anything inspires a French team to perform, its playing Les Roast Boeufs!

Joe Marler cited...for punching. No news yet whether he will face further punishment for his comments towards Samson Lee.

Wales team: Liam Williams; Hallam Amos, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, George North; Dan Biggar, Rhys Webb; Rob Evans, Scott Baldwin, Samson Lee, Bradley Davies, Luke Charteris, Dan Lydiate (c), Justin Tipuric, Taulupe Faletau.

Replacements: Ken Owens, Gethin Jenkins, Tomas Francis/Aaron Jarvis, Jake Ball, Ross Moriarty, Gareth Davies, Rhys Priestland, Gareth Anscombe.

Warbuton, Wyn Jones and Cuthbert out injured - Tipuric, Charteris and Amos replace them. Lydiate takes over as captain. Webb gets a start over Davies. Jenkins returns to the bench in place of James and Moriarty provides back-row cover. Francis is named on the bench but Jarvis stands by if he is banned for his handiwork on Sat. Wyn Jones out for 6 weeks apparently - big blow to the Hairsprays.

Another long afternoon for Italy on Sat it would seem.

Francis got 8 weeks for the Cole incident. Jarvis on bench for Wales now, Francis will be available for Exeter's playoff semi final if they can stay in the top 4.

Probably means Strauss to start which is bad for Ireland but hopefully good for Ulster if he is then rested for the following week.

Horrible English Bast'rd Marler awaits his fate tomorrow.

A brief gleek at a few English papers reveals they are all playing the "he apologised at half-time, that shows his character" card.

Brash Eddie, rugby coach but perhaps the closest thing rugby has to a gobby wendyball manager, said this:

Head coach Eddie Jones condemns the abuse, but highlights the 25-year-old's apology to Lee at half-time as evidence of his remorse.
'It's not in the spirit of the game. Joe understands that and that's why he apologised straight away. People make mistakes, we all make mistakes,' Jones said. 'The fact that he apologised at half-time is a real testament to Joe's character.

'You don't apologise at half-time in a game of rugby unless you mean it. He's been apologetic about it and wants to get on with it. 'There's a judicial process in place so we'll let that run its course. At the moment Joe is available and he will be available until the judiciary says he's not.'

I rather think that saying what he said says more about his character than what was probably an apology he was told to make.

I may simply have missed it, but I haven't seen anywhere a quote from Samson Lee. No indication as to whether he accepted Marler's apology.

Meanwhile, Marler ..............I really have an issue with people who have a brainfart and get tattooed, I loathe tattoos but here .............. the latest fad for doing a wee drawing on yerself and getting some clart to "colour you in", leaves me feckin' speechless.

He apologised at half time because when he left the pitch someone from the PR team probably told him it had been picked up on the ref's mic. Damage limitation.

If he was truely full of remorse he would have apologised regardless of it being caught on camera.

Obviously the media are forgetting that Marler's character was exemplified by the use of the insult in the first place, not the resulting apology. If it had been the n word then they would be calling for his head. Don't see why this is any different. And Baggy, be careful with the use of the "S" word. Remember the schmitstorm that Matt McCullough got himself into thanks to Felon Armitage over Spidegate?
