Wonder if Paddy J is having a wry smile. Zebo will no doubt have something to say.
Thoroughly deserved by Japan ably assisted by a ref who treated them like the minis at ravenhill and let numerous things slide.

They were lucky to get the BP at the end.

My goodness, Ireland were just appalling in every facet of the game. Clueless ball in hand - shambolic. Kick and chase and that's about it. Japan magnificent. To run from their 22 when 4 points up was just amazing. What positivity and belief in themselves. Just fantastic. The ref probably gave them the rub of the green but fek it.

Carbery kicking out on 80 mins is a good indicator of Ireland's whole approach to the game.

Hate to say I told you so.
Don't understand why people are surprised by this latest Irish defeat.
One team has a game plan based around ball possession and one side bases a game plan around kicking it away.
Rugby won thankfully!

Evidence if evidence needed you can't play 15 against 17 -- opposition, the crowd and the ref.
Not so much that he was wrong on every occasion -- it is more the effect on players when they sense the referee will penalise any and every mistake you make --its like playing under a microscope-- you try so hard to avoid the mistakes that you fail to try to play.

To think that ireland went to Japan with out their Lions with PJ and won easily -- the backs to day looked clueless no variation No Back in control as others have said IRFU have only themselves to blame.

You also can't play if you haven't a team that has no belief or a decent gameplan

Wee Joey >seeya And Paddy Jackson laughing spreads his wings....
One dimensional rubbish by guys who would eat themselves if they were chocolate.
Shocking performance from a poorly coached set of backs as blunt as a turnip. Best strike runner sees the ball twice in the whole game. Every ball moved to Keet....

Nice inclusiveness at the start.. the Tricolour and the old Ulster provincial fleg.. now I thought Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal fell under the jurisdiction of the former?... obvious the NI flag offends some.

Murray missing in action. As slow service as Laidlaw which is saying something. Playing on reputation not form, while Cooney sits at home. Carbery played like a headless chicken. The IRFU get what they deserve for the disgraceful PJ decision. Japan played well but would be annihilated by NZ. The hype round Ireland clearly exposed. Schmidt's strength in depth myth exposed. Agree completely with Rum' s analysis of the ref's performance and the impact.

The ref had little to do with it. A team exposed by offensive defence and pace. Every truck up went backwards...

Think this puts in perspective how bad Scotland are/were.
Japan are courageous and everything is done with speed and tempo in terms of moving the ball.
Ireland and Scotland are slow and ponderous reflected in their first choice 9s holding the ball for an age at the back of rucks.
That combined with tight head props kicking the ball away sums it up.
You get what you deserve.
