With the battle for the leadership of the Conservative Party well under way this week some of you may wish to know/learn that "Conservative" in Irish is "Coimeadach" but the slightly easier word to know/learn is "Tora" which is Irish for "Tory".

And for those of you heading to Donegal at some stage over the summer "Tory Island" is the very easy to pronounce "Oilean Tora".

And for Saturday night's game it may be useful to know that Cheetah in Irish is Siota (pronounced She-oh-ta). Agreed Shan?

Nice one Michael. Pronunciation is spot on.

Shan -- one solitary contiflo a day --- much to a surgeons surprise a couple of years ago -- he thought I should be emptying the chemists at my age .

Tory (as in Conservatives) comes from the Irish word tóraidhe which means outlaw, robber, bandit.

It makes me smile to see them being called that and they haven't a clue as to how and where the nickname came from!
