Another great result. I haven't been to an away match for a couple of years. I must start going again. The atmosphere is fantastic, win or lose. Could be Holland or Germany in the autumn.

Ballymena Showgrounds
early 70s? Late 60's
Certainly pre-1976 (pre-fire)
The good news out of lock down is that I have got fitter.
The bad news is that my spelling has got wurse.

Excellent Grumps.
I have a choice of dates with 1976 the earliest so maybe just before the fire?

Get to work on the golf one. I need an answer before midnight!

Don't know the golf one - I wouldn't know one end of a golf racquet from another, but am 99% certain that is the B'mena showgrounds before it was burnt down in 1976
Arthur Stewart was fired in 1976 after five years of service due to increasing unsuccessfulness. He was succeeded by Eddie Russell, a member of the glorious team from 1958. Right from the start, Russell made a contribution as player-coach with a goal that Ballymena with a 4-0 final triumph over Distillery for the first time in 25 years again the title in the country Antrim-Shield got it. Apart from that, Russell's tenure was not a lucky star. A fire destroyed parts of the showgrounds and the subsequent reconstruction work forced the club to play its games on a practice field until the end of the season. After 13 league games without a win, Russell finally lost the trust of the club's management and was replaced after less than a year by Scottish Billy Johnston. /

Vague memory is that it was arson by "travellers", but could be wrong about that.

Excellent. There are 4 options for the place and year so I'm going with the Showgrounds 1976.

It's a Newsletter "heritage" competition and while the locations are getable a couple of them are extremely difficult regarding the precise dates i.e a bloke painting a boat in front of Carrickfergus castle and a pic of a security checkpoint for shoppers in Belfast c. mid 70s

Guy painting the boat didn't have a white horse by any chance?

Just wondered if it was one of our less well known royals, ensuring it was seaworthy to take him back across the water, never to be heard of again, after his brief Irish visit in June and July 1690?
