What about Jimmy the day? 7 for 19 his best figures at Old Trafford and ihis 1000th first class wkt at 38.

Meanwhile Federer is the oldest ever Wimbledon quarter finalist just a month shy of 40.

Phenomenal.

Indeed.

BBC Sport didn’t seem to appreciate they were actually Jimmy’s career best figures.

Tickets on sale for the two T20 games against SA at Stormont.

The second one clashes with the opening Lions Test.

I like the way we’ve made OT the last Test and are having the first three at grounds it’s likely to do a bit.

Nope, didn't understand a word or that, unless 'do a bit' means 'helps the spinners'.

The opposite really.

Should get a bit of seam and swing in Nottingham, St John’s Wood and Leeds.

It will spin in Manchester by which time we should have the series wrapped up.

Only been once but I was struck by the cricket knowledge on show in the boozers.

And I’m a red rose man.

Every credit to the batter but pretty sure I didn’t get hit for six sixes in total in 35 years.

I remember one kid hitting me for six over mid-on and the fielder stationing himself on the boundary after belatedly retrieving the ball from thick undergrowth.

I brought him back into the ring, loudly stating there’s no way the batter would try that again.

And got him stumped the next ball.

I saw Botham hit six sixes in one over at Wallace Park, Lisburn in a showcase appearance back in the day! [ although given the size of the pitch at Wallace Park it probably wasn’t that stupendous a feat!]
Hope is not a strategy.
