Very true Bobbi!

Pleasantly surprised as was not expecting them to do so well.

India will be a tougher test but they'll gain confidence from this.

England will need Archer and Jimmy/Broady to take wickets with the new cherry.

There’s a case to play the two old boys together because, at the very least, they don’t go for runs and Root could do a job with the ball.

Pope sounds like he’ll be available but who’s going to bat at 3? The skipper seems so much happier at 4.

Which Australian bowler took 6 for 35 in BOTH innings of the solitary defeat?

Very possibly.

I’ve seen SOK bowl at the SCG in the Sheffield Shield.

About 200 in the ground.

Cricket back on terrrrrrrestrial TV with Channel 4 showing the India vs England series. Very surprised at that but hopefully good in terms of getting people watching.
Now all we need is England to put up a decent performance!

Poor old Sibley.

Outstanding knock by Root.

Root has certainly found his form again. As you say, an outstanding knock. Too many 50’s not converted to 100’s in the last couple of years was where he fell down compared to Kohli, Smith and Williamson.

Game still well poised - England need to post well over 400. Less than that then if India bat well England England could still find themselves under pressure in their 2nd innings.

A good 1st day if the series for them though.

I have often wondered if England will last two sessions, but two days is certainly some going.

It will be very interesting to see how the bowlers get on.

England in a very decent position. Issue will be bowling india out twice as I reckon bowlers will be tired. May not enforce follow on even if they can to give bowlers some rest but realistically batting even a session would only give 4 to bowl india out and they won't want to give the indian batting line up too tempting a target

Draw I reckon

Does Neill do cricket?
England need to win 2 of the last 3 tests to make the final according to the Beeb.

Jimmy sensational again the day.

Great effort but the toss was crucial and will be all series.

Not even many draws in India these days.

Yep, toss was crucial but England then had to deliver in the 1st innings to build some pressure which they did. The fact that most players contributed in some way will be good for them.
India will come back fighting and are a very good side. Should be a great rest of the series but for now England should rightly bask in the glory of an excellent and comprehensive victory.
