Tried the Busmills Distillery Reserve 12yo a couple of weeks back - in theory it's only available for purchase at the distillery itself. No idea how strict they are about that. But it's bloody lovely!

Got some King Alfred Gin in the post today from Wessex Distillery.

Looking forward to trying it.

Wife got me a membership for the Craft Gin Club last Christmas. All the gins so far have been good.

Any of you whisky drinkers help me with Laphroaig 10? SWMBO picked up a wee 5cl bottle, just for fun. Is it really supposed to smell a bit like wintergreen? Is it absolutely foul or are my taste buds simply not educated enough? I thought I understood whisky (and whiskey), but this one is beyond me.

If i recall they also do a family package, which includes an alcoholic drink. Not much use if u want to bring it to family stand.

You can have a beer in Family Stand for the European games apparently (don't quote me on that)

Laphroaig is a very required taste,distilled on Islay with a lot of the barley used grown locally on the island and dried using turf fires,hence it has a very strong "turf smokey salty" taste and aroma, in my opinion probably the most "peaty" of all Scotch whisky. For a good selection of all ages and makes of whisky at sensible prices For a decent aged bottle try Whisky Broker Ltd Creetown Scotland owned and run by a chap from Banbridge originally if you need any further details pm me.
