I see by his gravestone he was only 21
When he joined the glorious fallen in 1916
True Mervyn but 21 did not rhyme in the song, it has been researched and Eric Bogle confirmed it was that one that inspired the song along with the many other young lads in the cemetery

Aye and he should know Rooster since he wrote it. A great man for a magnificent anti-war song, "The Band played Waltzing Matilda" being the other best known one.

Huh, war, what is it good for

Strange one Anzac day.

Ostensibly a day of solemn remembrance, but for many Aussies, an excuse to get absolutely arseholed.

100 years ago today, the James Caird, with it's six man crew reached South Georgia, after a gruelling 16 day voyage.
It was a staggering and unique feat of seamanship, navigation, endurance and pure courage.
Ernest Shackleton, Tom Crean, Frank Worsley, Timothy McCarthy, Harry McNish and John Vincent - Remember them today!

If you ever go to Kerry, in the town of Kenmare at the top of the Main Street on the left sits the Tom Crean restaurant. Not only is the big horse of a man commemorated throughout but you get a bloody fine feed.

No Michelin stars, no drizzle of swans vomit, but beautifully prepared local produce, does me every time.

Just thought I would share with the class

It was Guinness that kept Tom going, here is the proof. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eXf93CEI4t0
