As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse. Eddie died. Gutted. He played the guitar to my o level and a level revision, I think I was the only one in my school who thought van halen were a cool band. I was amazed when bbc breakfast did a thing on him and interviewed Gene Simmons who spoke so wonderfully of Eddie. Very touching it was. Obviously at 65 he was never going to be producing another “Eruption” or “Mean Streets” etc but his last tour he was absolutely nailing it. I don’t know about anybody else but the sound he made from his guitar was matched by very few in the rock world. Very sad. Only positive is his son might release a ton of music from his tons of studio recordings and maybe someone will release a digital remaster of their ‘83 tour. Rip Eddie >you_rock
Saw that interview. The Beeb gave a full 10 mins to Gene Simmons. Fine tribute to one of the genuinely nice guys.

Classed as "the fastest wing in the world" John James Williams JJ has passed at at the relatively young age of 72. What a player and excelled during Lions Tours in the 70's
The best seem to go early.

Apples and oranges, Merv. Love both.
Both belonged to another, more innocent age so neither are likely to be repeated.
Cannon and Ball were the epitome of classic innocent slapstick comedy. Sometimes naughty but never offensive. I believe both Cannon and Ball became Christians in their later years.

Glad Bobby got some air time recently via Lee Mack.

RIP one of Lancashire’s finest.

Covid has been particularly hard on british comedy double acts from the 70s/80s. First Eddie Large now Bobby Ball.

Peter Green's birthday today too.

Only Cohen, Charlton, Hurst and Hunt left from the starting XI now.

And now Sean Connery. THE Bond, although Untouchables was my favourite Connery film.

Darby O'Gill and the Little People was easily the best fillum he was in ... although Michael McBride's Dublin accent ran Dick Van Dyke close. Good Halloween movie too.

She's my dear, my darlin' one
My smilin' and beguilin' one
I love the ground she walks upon
My pretty Irish girl

He's not quite ready for this thread yet but sad to see Bobby Charlton diagnosed with dementia.

Too many ex footballers with dementia for it not to be linked with heading a heavy ball.

I fear an epidemic of rugby related dementia down the track given the number of concussion injuries in the modern game. I wouldn't want my grandchildren to play tbh
