Big Jack won't be forgotten too easily in Ireland. RIP big man.
He was more than a soccer player. He was a committed socialist and one of the founders and a spokesman for the Anti Nazi League. He was also a big supporter of the striking miners, organizing food parcels for families and even giving his car to flying pickets.
Can't resist it:

I am surprised that none of you old rockers/blues lovers haven't posted about the passing on the 25th July of Peter Green, founder member of Fleetwood Mac and blues guitar legend. A sad loss.

He atood out even among the raft of great British bluesmen from rhe 60s/70s. It's a shame that to many Fleetwood Mac are personified by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

We should be recording on this site the passing of Andy Haden a few days ago, at the age of 70, former All blacks captain.
A leader and a gentleman. One of the original gentle giants.

Peter Green was a genius and legend. The later Fleetwood Mac were limited in comparison.
Such a shame younger people don't know him.

Before my time admittedly, but I think FM have managed to struggle on for fifty years without him.
Still, I did prefer Bernard Butler era Suede I suppose!

David Bryant RIP
The pipe-smoking icon of bowls.
Nigh on unbeatable when paired with the golden haired Tony Allcock.

Bryant and May could give them a match
Feck he must have been 150! He was a brave age when I was a lad.
Always preferred crown green meself. Used to watch it in a pub garden in Haydock. Very dynamic and pacey game compared with the auld coffin dodgers' lawn bowls.

I’m contemplating joining Belmont Bowling Club.
I wonder if I can source a retro shirt with T Allcock on the back.
