Boycie has gone to the great car dealership in the sky.

This is probably the funniest thing he was involved in albeit unintentionally:

Boycie. One of the many great characters in Only Fools And Horses. Will be sadly missed.

And Jimmy Greaves as well. My first sporting hero. I remember feeling really gutted for him that he was left out of the England team for the World Cup final in 1966. He never really got over that. If my memory is working well, his highest transfer fee was £99,999 - less than a week's wages for a decent Premiership striker these days. Bill Nicholson, the Tottenham manager at the time said that no player was worth £100,000. I believe it was Greaves who said that the ball only had to cross the line, not hit the back of the net.

Many a good judge in Preston would have said that Greaves was the best they’d seen at Deepdale bar Sir Tom.

What a player, what a striker, what a personality! :salut:

One wonders how Geoff Hurst's career would have panned out, if Greavsie hadn't been injured. Would probably have had a decent enough career anyway, but there's nothing like a world cup final hat-trick to set a young player up for sporting immortality.

It's a funny ol' game.

I'm sorry to hear he spent time with Van Morrison.

He scored all five against us in a nine goal thriller in 1959/60. Deserved a drink after that.

Had scored three in the game at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, although we escaped with a point.

Another of the 66 Engerland squad, Roger Hunt, just gone to the great footy pitch in the sky.

Despite his club allegiance for most of his playing career, I rated him highly. Respect! :salut:

Not sure anyone has a bad word to say about James Brokenshire do they?

Very unusual in the current political climate.

Such sad news. RIP.

Boris' tribute attributed to him all the qualities which he himself is lacking.

Seemed like a decent sort but totally ineffectual as NI secretary.

Seen The Border Game at The Lyric yet Mervyn?

It’s not bad at all.

Stuck in the Spanish sunshine for a while Justin. Funny enough, the Lyric's front of house manager's dad lives down the street! I did catch the game last night. :red: :fleg:

Have to say, when you come across a seemingly decent cove like Brokenshire or Rory Stewart my first thought is "what the absolute f*ck were you/are you doing in the Tory Party?"
