autobiographies - Rugby & others

Post by armalig »

Cant find any related post ref this so thought might be interesting to hear folks views on anything they may have read (lockdown boredom or otherwise) and discuss snippets of which there are many to help the sales ....

Got x2 at Christmas for O`Driscoll & that great flanker Haskell  and have Rory awaiting also :fleg: ...

Normally not a reader (except back 4 pages of local) but had finished 2 of Ant middletons which were decent...

The thread I started is on page 2 but you’re forgiven!

Mostly read cricket books during lockdown, especially those by or linked to Peter Roebuck which were fascinating in the light of what happened to him.

Football-wise, North End Souls and North End Souls 2 are very good, albeit relatively niche.

Best I've read is Brian Moore's 'Beware of the Dog'.
Worst I've read is Brian O'Driscoll's 'A Year in the Centre'.

I didn’t start the previous thread after all! Apologies Marco.

Robin Smith’s book is excellent for the cricket fans and alcoholics amongst you.

The book by Ferris is rubbish.

The ones by all the usual suspects at Munster are pretty decent.

Adam Jones did a reasonable one too.

Moss Keane's autobiography is a great read, both for the rugby and also as a piece of social history of growing up in rural Kerry.

Surely this one is a MUST BUY for all Ulster fans....

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trevor-Brennan ... 0954865359

All proceeds to go towards buying Trevor a new hearing aid so that he can actually hear what people are saying to him......before lamping them anyway.

2.6 out of 5 stars. One review starts: 'awful maudlin drivel.'

Seems below average...

Good luck shifting that. He's not exactly "current" with the wider public.
Volunteer at an animal sanctuary; it will fill you with joy , despair, but most of all love, unconditional love of the animals.

Unless it's going to be a 'tell-all', no holds barred exposure of all that's rotten in Dungannon RFC, IRFU, UR, Sullivan Upper
