the course really bit back yesterday. It looks as if the chance has all but gone for Rory now. Hopefully he won't be too despondent. He has it in him to win a major or two.

that golf for you, and particularly that's major championship links golf.
ousthuizen really got a break yesterday with the wind behind him on the way out and then turning to help him home.

much as i hate to see a player blow up, kinda need that to happen to him now for the brits and my skybet account to fonish healthily...

rory still not out of it - 2 good rounds that leave the field in his wake and he's right in it again. tiger looking well placed for a charge

missed again :-(

Didn't quite do enough with his final round - but without a doubt he will be a major winner before long.

Good to see him still in contention after 70 holes. Being in the business right at the end will have taught him a lot, especially with the Ryder cup coming up.

I predict he'll bring home a major within 12 months.

Once he learns to control his impulsive streak, he may just end up dominating the game. Putting needs to improve too.

Rory got away with some aweful crap at the start of the round - Severiano would have been proud of some of that scrambling, especially the par saving bunker shot on 1 - magic :D

Two 5's on holes that should have been 4,4 were a killer but he showed a lot of guts to hit two great shots into 18 to give himself a chance.

Still a good performance and great to see another European major winner in Ryder Cup year.

While Rory will feel he let that one get away he has all the time in the world to collect a gaggle of majors in the next 10-15 years especially with the contemptable Eldrick on the slide - hopefully for eternity. :thumleft:

Well done Rory and the hero that hails from Portrush in GMAC.

You did yourselves and Ulster proud of course...We can take full credit along with yourselves for winning the Ryder Cup now and have the bragging rights for the next two years over others. I say parade it around Ravenhill for the next home game (this weekend might be a bit tight).

Bringing Monty over to do the half time talk on Friday night would be a good idea as well.

I know Darren Cave was over at Celtic Manor cheering on his mate Rory this weekend. I couldn't help but laugh when the crowd on the first tee sang "Hurr ah for Rory McIlroy" to the tune of "Stand Up For The Ulstermen", maybe Darren and the boys started that one off. Either way, well done Monty & The whole European Team and well done the Ulstermen G-Mac & R-Mac. :red:
