No name as yet!!!! I have heard we are signing a young New Zealand back row with the hope that in a 3 years he will be Irish Qualified!
Where did you find this out? Anybody else heard or know anything about this?
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

He'll need to have an EU passport already though... Non-EU rugby players need an international cap to get a UK work permit.

Thought if you lived and played in a country for three years you could qualify to play for that country. As long as you hadn't played an 'A' or full international.
Mike Catt & Matt Stevens England
Andy Ward - Ireland
England also approached Johnny O'Connor at a time when at wasps

If he qualifies to play for Ireland surely he can play for Ulster professionally

From the IRB's perspective, you might be qualified to play for the country.... but from the Home Office's perspective, you'll still need a work permit to play as a professional rugby player - and they currently require the player to already have an international cap before granting a work permit as a pro player.

I think it is 5 years residency (or 3 if you are married to a UK citizen) before you can apply for UK citizenship or right of abode after which you have unrestricted employment.
