You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

He'll need to have an EU passport already though... Non-EU rugby players need an international cap to get a UK work permit.

What about Filo Paulo? He's been at Ulster for some time, but because he is a New Zealander, he can't get a work permit for UR....I hope its him-he is a tank. Cool hair-do as-well!

Think we need to get a wife for Filo to get him a passportMad Dod wrote:What about Filo Paulo? He's been at Ulster for some time, but because he is a New Zealander, he can't get a work permit for UR....I hope its him-he is a tank. Cool hair-do as-well!

Thought if you lived and played in a country for three years you could qualify to play for that country. As long as you hadn't played an 'A' or full international.Rooster wrote:Is that possible ?GerryO' wrote:Does not qualify on residency soon?
Mike Catt & Matt Stevens England
Andy Ward - Ireland
England also approached Johnny O'Connor at a time when at wasps

Re: New Players........
Not sure if that applies to it is getting him permission to play at all professionally is the problem.

Re: New Players........
From the IRB's perspective, you might be qualified to play for the country.... but from the Home Office's perspective, you'll still need a work permit to play as a professional rugby player - and they currently require the player to already have an international cap before granting a work permit as a pro player.GerryO' wrote:Thought if you lived and played in a country for three years you could qualify to play for that country. I think it is 5 years residency (or 3 if you are married to a UK citizen) before you can apply for UK citizenship or right of abode after which you have unrestricted employment.
